Suzuka
I was planning to get a PS3, but since I lost my job, I won't be able to afford one, so I decided to set my sight a little smaller and maybe get a PSP, but for those who have one, is it worth it? or should I just save my money? bwhsh8r
i had 3 psps, sure theyre technologically advanced but theyre no fun unless your running fw 1.5 and homebrew which is nowhere near what eth psp was designed for batterylife is {censored} etc... i finally went ds lite and its fun.... i get alot more use out of it and its actually portable because of the battery etc...... go with a ds lite and a flash cart (i used to say ds was {censored}..... but i 360 turned..... so im not a nintendo fanboy, or a wii-tard etc....) id probably just save the $ though..... or wait for psp2.0 (supposedly coming, it will have better battery life, flash mem, and uh, the full 333mhz clock on the chip unlocked etc......... if it ever comes) id just save for ps3 or XBOX 360 (cause thats better for a lot of reasions, although im still a playstation fanboy.) anonymous86
Get a DS - there are no "killer"-games for the PSP, whereas the DS has a very good selection on Top-notch games. I think you shoudl save your money. I had a PSP and sold it. The homebrew is awesome! But the games are terrible, so it doesnt meet the mark as a gaming system. With that $250 or w/e you would pay buy something nice like a new video card or monitor etc etc. If you really like consoles save up for the Xbox360 a slew of great games are coming out soon such as A) Mass Effect Bioshock C) Half life 2 (if you missed it on PC) D) Halo 3 E) Grand Theft Auto 4 not to mention that their are already great 360 titles like Gears of War, Forza Motorsport 2, Oblivion and Crackdown. In fact, get an Xbox 360 and Xbox live (BTW I after I sold my PSP I bought a DS and I would say its better than the PSP. However saved cash or an Xbox360 is better than a DS ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56186-psp-or-not/#findComment-401532 Share on other sites

U.C.
Yup a PSP is great. Load it up with Dark Alex's custom firmware and you have a winner. GTA, Ratchet and Clank are really great games on it. Plus you can play all PSX games. I believe they even have a SNES Emulator and a N64 Emulator. About the guides, I will ask my bro, he is a mod at one of the PSP forums. U.C.
Donot worry, they are actively patching Sony's protection. I am sure a patch will come out soon. When I got my PSP it had 2.01. 2.00 had been cracked, but soon enough 2.01 got cracked too. Plus AFAIK with the Lumines UMD you can run homebrew on all firmware versions.
