I've previously owned the original release of the 5g ipod 30 gig and was pretty satisfied with it. Sold it and bought a Zune when those came out, and haven't really been that happy with it. I want to get a 60+ gig ipod, but I am reluctant because I know that as soon as I buy, apple will put out a 6th gen or something more advanced than what's avail now. i know apple is usually very secretive about new products before they are announced/available, but does anyone know if an ipod revision is in store in the next 6 months?

i vote to wait for the 6g. you'll get some of that touch screeny widescreen video goodness and quite possibly flash memory (though i doubt that)

so yea, i'm personally waiting for the 6g touchscreens

but then, i already have a 5g 60gig... which i'll sell for a discount if anyone wants it (but not til the 6g are released)

Ah..now I can complete my collection. I have G's1-4. All have dead battries(One actually has iPod linux, and DOOM!). Too cheap to get it fixed and I'm too lazy to do it myself.(Kidding about buying). Teh Zune is a good effort, but it falls short, true. The 6G sounds nice, but if you need a MP3 player now , go for a Creative Zen Vison M . I'm( and I'm sure no one else is) not sure when it's coming out.

If you dont mind waiting, wait for the 6th gen iPod. I hear it will be OS X powered like the iPhone and be very advanced with a touchscreen and all sorts of goodies. I dont think apple will announce it until around october along with leopard though, and im sure pricing will be steeper compared with the last few versions.
