7210211
For AMD/Intel What is the difference between the Universal Kernels and the SSE2/3 Which Uni. Kernel is the best? (3, I'm guessing) And how does it compare to SSE3?

johnnytluxury
Funny, we're all smart and ready to argue our points into oblivion until a real question comes along. I couldnt tell you. i think the Universal Kernels are from Semthex, but Im probably wrong. Id ask Uphuck, its his disk.
7210211
I dunno, I've installed both the AMD SSE3 and the Universal Kernel 3 and the XBench results are similar. But there is one noticeable difference, in the system profiler the SSE3 shows 2 cores, while the Uni. Kernel shows one. (But many ppl use the Uni. Kernel 2, I dunno why.) Telefunken
Yes, I would also like to know how to keep kernels apart ... They are all named Mach_kernel after all. Is there some kind of ID-string, footprint or checksum or other command to identify which kernel is currently running? Thanks.
Eric.C
does this support JMB363 IDE controllers?

You can name them whatever you want and just type the kernel name to pick it on the boot screen. The default is set in the boot.plist file or if none set mach_kernel is the default. Edit: Didn't the universal kernels incorporate things like r3d3.kext (or those other kexts) which the older kernels still needed?
