After spending a week searching this forum, wiki and all over, I can't figure out why I get this error..

I installed OSX86 on my laptop, on a clean HD, using the Tiger-X86_flat IMG, used several diferent parameters on dd for skip and bs, all them resulting in successfull install but fail to boot (b0 error)

this is the hardware:

-IBM Thinkpad R40 type 2681-CU1

-Pentium 4 M 1.8GHZ

-1GB RAM

-ATI Mobility 7000 16MB

I also tried to install on my desktop (i915), from the install DVD, it runs on the desktop, but if I switch the HD to the laptop, I get the "hardware not compatible" {censored}.

Please help!!

P.S> third post with same question, I start to woder if this crowd is becoming like the old Mac crowd, "too good" to answer a newbie question...

Ok for starters loose the attitude it won't help you here and don't think that using f**k in the subject is not swearing think again. Bad language is not welcomed here.

Yes, 1099 is the way to go at this point. I have a T30 with a 1.8Ghz P4 M as well and it works wonderfully for me - better than 10.4.1, which I had installed with deadmoo previously. Your processor supports PAE so the install should work, and it's much easier than working with the diskimage like you're trying to do. As long as you have access to a DVD burner, the whole process is rather quick and you should be up and running in no time.

If, after the install, you get a kernel panic when trying to boot, try pressing F8 as the darwin bootloader starts to get a prompt, and typing "-v -platform=X86PC". There are lots of posts dealing with this problem, but for me, that worked (and using -v allows you see the exact error if one occurs).

If something goes wrong during the patching, DVD burning, install, or booting and you can't find an answer in the forum, post here and people will help you out. Or perhaps start a new thread with a nicer subject line : )

Good luck!

Editing your post topic.

And, your argument sort of annoys me. The reason is that most of these 'newbie' questions have been answered a million times and the answers are found if someone bothers to use the search command and/or google. And, most people are on 10.4.3 now, so if you ask about old stuff, it helps to mention that in the title. Good luck, though. When switching an image to different hardware, the -F command helps too, it makes it check things again.
