Zaphod Beeblebrox
I tried an install of 8f1111 and am now reverting to 8f1099. It is MUCH faster. I used Maxxuss' ISO/DVD respective patchers for both. P4c 2.6 ghz, 875p chipset motherboard, Radeon 9800 pro. Swad
Have you done any benchmarks, or does it just seem faster? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5270-8f1099-vs-8f1111/#findComment-33435 Share on other sites
Zaphod Beeblebrox
Oops! Someone else report somewhat slower performance using Xbench. In my case performance had slowed to a relative crawl. Looks like user error on my part. I forgot to specify mach_kernel.nonx in boot options. ddod
I have been reading up on this and have recieved conflicting answers (for running within VMware). I have read tons listing the technical reason why the changes made 8f1111 run slower on older hardware (epescially vmware). But I haven't heard a final verdict. For running within vmware, which build is better and why? After 8f1111 is patched does it perform comprable to the other? Are there any real benifits to running 8f1111 in the vmware? In other words I have installed 8f1111 and it seems to be working, should I revert to the other? It is fairly slow but I don't expect otherwise in VMware for a while. What is the word on the street? Thanks. Or should I just wait for 10.4.4? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5270-8f1099-vs-8f1111/#findComment-50522 Share on other sites
