To Aces, The AR5007 is a superb performer in my Acer notebook. I can sit outside in my garden at the very other side of my house and get a good signal with it.
Where the macbook has a usable signal and a powerbook none. It really has surprised me how good a reception it has / wireless link it creates. Must have good antennas too, I guess.

That said, it doesn't work with OS X and I am eager to find a solution for it in x86 with my Acer 5570z

I can't get wifi nor ethernet. JAS 10.4.8 & Uphuck v1.3 (no sound yet either)

Atheros AR5007EG wireless

Marvell Yukon 88E8038 PCI-E fast ethernet

Realtek High Definition sound

The issue I'm seeing with a lot of these AR5007 wifi adapters is that the subsystem ID's are preventing the correct driver form being loaded even if you manage to fool the kext into loading based on your product and vendor ID's.

All of the kexts that have been made to work only involve changes in the info.plist file and this isn't going to be enough for a lot of cards.

The lack of any Atheros kext source also hinders a simple solution but the best solution I've seen is to re-ID the card to apple numbers based on a compatible chipset and in this case it would be the AR5005 or AR5006.

The same wi-fi card @ notebook Acer Aspire 5520G (Atheros AR5007EG). I've installed the kext provided in the beginning of this thread, but when booting still have "HAL status 13" and error "loaded unsuccessfully" ;) The adapter hadn't even appeared at m Network tab of the system settings...

Do you guys know if there are any external (usb) wi-fi adapters, which are 100% compatible with our laptops' Mac OS X ? I guess it would be a better decision in our case to obtain an external one, coz U see internal one won't like to get installed.

It seems I am not alone...

I have an Aspire 4315.

Everything is working perfectly, LAN, Graphics, Sound etc. But no matter what I try, I can't get my Atheros AR5007EG (VenID: 168C DevID: 001C) to work. I'm desperate for some help with this, as I've fallen in love with OS X :)

If your wireless card does not support 802.11a then using those ID's will prevent the card from working properly.

Same card, Obviously same problems. super annoying..

Tried everyhting i can find.

One thing i noticed, in vista I have to open a program to turn my wifi on.

This anything to do with that card? Don't know if anyone else has to do this. I know on my old acer laptop I did (quite alot of you have acer)

I hope someone gets this working, its annoying me!

So far that I know this card isn´t working in OSx, but you all have an easy and simple solution, buy an broadcom based card and just replace it, if your install dvd is kalliways once you reboot you´ll have airport working with every kind of network (with other install dvd you may have to install the kext), I myself bought an broadcom 4311 on Ebay and it´s working perfectly, cheap and easy:)

Oh yeah for the rest of you in here. Looked on ebay, about £8.95 and about £15 for a UK seller, so what about $20, $30 maybe?

Pretty damn cheap for a quick and awesome solution!

Only problem is whipping open the laptop case and replacing the atheros one!!

haha

It shouldn´t be too hard for you to change the card, in my laptop I made it in less then 5 minutes... Dont forget that as to be an mini PCI-e card! Mine is an broadcom 4311, but also bought an broadcom 4321 "airport extreme" but it doesn´t work as well as the 4311 (the light of the wifi doenst work and mal functioning when in windows, to much trouble when I want to connect to encripted networks in windows)
