OMX-Knuckles
My system *suddenly* decided it no longer wants to mount any disk images. Worked fine earlier today, worked fine for the past several months. What the f**k. This came at a really bad time an I'm sightly pissed right now. Disk Utility won't mount them either. Running JAS 10.4.8 SSE3. Sorry if the solution if obvious... the board search function didn't reveal anything and neither did Google. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sabr
Have you recently replaced the Kernel, or ran an update? Common problems that cause this is an incorrect System.kext. Do you have a backup of your old one?
mac-mini
yeah use 10.4.8 system.kext for DMG mountin
OMX-Knuckles
Figured it out. I somehow ended up with the 8.9.1 kernel on a 10.4.8 install. WTF?
Sabr
Figured it out. I somehow ended up with the 8.9.1 kernel on a 10.4.8 install. WTF? It could've been from a patch you may have installed recently? Some people are making patches that update the kernel too. - Sb.
OMX-Knuckles
I traced it to the CPU throttling utility/kext I had installed. When I re-installed the latest Semthex 8.8.1 kernel I'd get a kernel panic as soon as I hit the desktop. Removing the ACPIThrottle package fixed it. So not I may or may not have throttling (is there a final answer on that for Core Duos and 10.4.8?) but at least my system works again! An battery life if still great so it may still be throttling after all with TM2.

OMX-Knuckles
Can you mount disk images? My problem wasn't 10.4.9 related- it was that my system somehow ended up with some 10.4.8 system files and some 10.4.9 system files and things got fracked up as a result.
