acrylucs
sup, So i installed mac os x 10.4.1 using the marklar generic install. went perfectly, runs pretty good (48 on xbench). then the "package" that sough to explain how to install said that once it was installed untar the update and install (it says like 10.4.3 User-Land...). The instructions were way too brief and everytime i restart, i'm still on 10.4.1. I breifly had a look through the forum to no avail. what am i missing here? does a patch need to go somewhere? or do i need to totally reinstalle with 10.4.3 to get this shindig to work? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5141-upgrading-to-1043/ Share on other sites
BMC6053
Hey, I have the same issue. I'm thinking the patch never touched the kernel and the kernel is what is reporting the OSX version. Just a guess, but otherswise I think iTudes and Safari got updated. cyrana
That userland one is sort of a kludge, dig up a real 10.4.3 and do a full install (my opinion). Scothiam
That userland one is sort of a kludge, dig up a real 10.4.3 and do a full install (my opinion). Great advice, if you have a cpu with PAE. Apple seems to be getting tighter on what you can run your system on...Think by the time they release a real version, they'll be forcing us to buy macs, not just OS X. Do you know if the new ATI drivers in 8f1099 and 8f1111 are dependant on 10.4.3 or could the be used by one of us using 10.4.1 (patched, no PAE) Cheers, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5141-upgrading-to-1043/#findComment-36728 Share on other sites
dfunked
Same boat here. Got the "user-land 10.4.3" update and it seems to have done nothing at all. ATI drivers still not correctly detected and installed although they should be (according to the Wiki). I think I'll just get myself the 8f1099 seed DVD. acrylucs / BMC6053 - Did you try it out yet?
