RedSox
Device, Mackie 400F, works fine if I play a virtual instrument, not clipping, not running out of horse power either, Only seems to happen when ever I use a real guitar plugging in and try Amplitude 2 or Guitar Rig... Sort of like a vinyl record crackling every time I strum a note or chord. Everything else is fine! Any ideas? Thanks!
Darwinian Dude
Which mac do you have, which version of logic (ie 7.1, 7.2) and which version of OSX?
UZi706
Make sure you are up-to-date on your Mackie 400F drivers. This same thing happened once with my M-Audio Firewire 400. I just had to update to the current driver
solaar
Crackling and pops could also indicate that your audio buffer is set too low. When tracking with low buffer settings and plugins routed into the recording chain there's much more strain on the system. You might want to try either to increase your buffer (and possibly get unacceptably high latency) or record your guitar dry and add fx later.
