yidakee
Hi, First off - Asus A6JC lappy - Jas 10.4.8 Amd.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 Beta 2 I have NEVER touched Linux before, so all this is new, but I managed to edit stuff, so I decided to give a go at some crazy "theories" I invented to... I dunno... faith is powerful went to iwidarwin and got the iwi3945.pkg and installed. What the heck is networkselector ?!?! I just simply do NOT get it, where to download, how to use, install etc... Please!! anyone? I went all over this forum searching for something to do, as for me, all that is left is wireless. I read the Broadcom threads and decided "what the heck, lets try it to see what happens and learn..." Went into XP and got Vendor: 8086 Dev: 4222 Subsys: 10018086 Rev: 02 mind you, this is chinese to me - but I get the flow of things... Went into networkinterfaces.plist and edited the "en0" to "en1"... then I realised that the code, just like html, has "<begin>whatever</begin>" strings... and that I could just copy paste the entire thing. So I got one set of codes for the "fw0", "en1" and copy pasted to create an "en2" to see what would happen. rebooted and the networkinterfaces.plist just "reset" itself to original status... oh, I did repair permissionas before reboot. I dont even know WHEN I should repair permissions.... So back to zero. Then I edited it to "en2", repaired, reboot. Nothing. Ok, so now I needed to go onto editing the "info.plist" in the "AppleAirportBrcm4311.kext". I read from many users that they switched some strings around and got it to work (dunno how on earth they managed to calculate from vendor ID the new number - like 4320 to 4306 (??) - So I decided to try it myself. Being a total noob, I copy pasted many string and ranged them quite a bit. Introduced string for 4222 (my Dev), introduced 8086 (vendor)... went on google and got a site with a list PCI ID's and got a couple more for this card and introduced them... I also introduced a Pci Express root port "29b1" as a string! Please stop laughing, I dont know what heck I am doing, but it's with good will Now... after reboot, in Network Utilities, I get fw0, and on en2 that says (as info.plist was again as original, I just en0->en2) Mac: 00:13:02:05:ae:ae IP Address: 144:3.8.0 LinkSpeed: 0Mb LinkStatus: Inactive Vendor: Intel Model: 3945 Went to System Preferences -> Network. I was hyped because in the drop down menu, appart from bluetooth stuff, I get PCI Ethernet Slot Pci8086, 4222 fully configurable. but I have no mens to test it. So, is there something here? If not, dont bother to repond, just let this thread die. any suggestions on what to do next? thanks all ! franky dv9064
Well I don't ant to burst your bubble but I think the iwi3945.pkg was responsible for the PCI Ethernet Slot Pci8086, 4222 Franky Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48387-intel-pro-3945abg-wireless-did-i-stumble-on-something-that-might-help-driver-developement/#findComment-348257 Share on other sites
yidakee
Not a problem if you do !! Thats what we all are here doing! But since then I have been able to completely up this install When I re-installed OSx, the same rev of the iwi packages = kernel panic But anyway, I am collaborating in the right place to get iwi3945 working. For others, it's ALL in here: IF you REALLY want to help, read it. http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ Quick tip for 3945 cards... NetworkSelector does not exist for us, it's inside a install package for other cards and no good for us. Read on how to create logs. Then come back here and find the right thread (not telling you - 'cos developer is almost almost there and it's getting very messy... but if you SEARCH you will FIND!) - but be aware, learn how to delete the iwi3945 via single user because it might hang your sys. cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48387-intel-pro-3945abg-wireless-did-i-stumble-on-something-that-might-help-driver-developement/#findComment-348646 Share on other sites
WaldMeister
- but be aware, learn how to delete the iwi3945 via single userbecause it might hang your sys. On boot press F8 rapidly untill you see the darwin bootloader, and can enter boot flags, enter: -s[/] Now single user mode loads. If you see something like root:~ type: [code]/sbin/mount -uw / rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/iwi3945.kext exit And your system should boot again.
