In my part of Europe cannabis is readily and legally obtainable and it is not much fun smoking/eating or otherwise using it. Not because it is legal but because it makes people so layed back that they don't amount to anything anymore. People wasting their lives on Cannabis and Alcohol at a young age will amount to nothing. Believe you me I've seen it happen as I have professional work experience in the field of mental health care.

Alcohol and nicotine is far more addicitive than cocaine, in other words more people get addicted to nicotine or alcohol after use than people get addicted to cocaine. But the results of cocaine and alcohol abuse are often far worse than those of a chainsmoker.....

The only good use for Cannabis is a medical use I say.

People definitely have different views on what counts as medicine and when to use medicine. For instance, in times of depression, anger or anxiety, marijuana can be a helpful 'medicine.' Of course over use-causes its own problems, ironically leading the individual to feel as they did before taking the drug. As a matter of fact over-use of almost anything will cause problems: candy, soda, coffee, computers, porn, excersise, sleep. It is up to the person to regulate their use and try to make it work with their lives. Unfortunately for too many people this is a very difficult thing to regulate because habits are difficult to break, especially when they make people feel so good.

The over-use of any drug has bad concequences, maybe even worse than most other abusable things out there, but until it begins to hurt other people directly it is only the problem of the user. And there is one thing that I have learned about people that is almost fact in my mind: you can not help someone who does not want to be helped. Basically, medicine is not always the cure and people don't always know whats best for other people. Not even best, because there are people out there who do not want the best for themselves, they don't care. There are achievers, and slackers, and crazy insane psychopaths! And they all want different things, usually mental health ain't one of them. Thats for the psychologists and the doctors, which most of use aren't. Though they know whats best for the body and, technically, whats best for the mind, not everyone wants to know whats best.

You have by far contributed the most in this thread, and I agree with your thoughts on this. It's the feel-good factor that hooks people to drugs (illegal or legal in your country), much like the same way people feel good and are hooked on to WoW.

WoW does more damage to youths than cannabis or psilocybin or other drugs IMHO. People literally waste away in front of their screens.

All I'll say: everything in moderation. Anything you abuse will kill you, and I mean anything and everything.
