skotwarr
Now that 10.4.9 has been out for awhile, I was wondering what is the best way to install 10.4.9 to an os that is running JaS 10.4.6. I looked around of the forums but it seems must go from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9. I was wondering who had success with which install method. I know I can't just do system update, there is more that needs to be done with the kernel and how do I fix it? tjarven
I think that JaS.10.4.9.combo.update is the best way. Fix som kind of ghost software to make a full diskclone before starting update to easy recover. It´s easy to crash you system with this kind och heavy updates. The Baron
I used Koolkals excellent installer (it's on the demon), upgraded from a 10.4.6 install. Worked perfectly. (You'll need Intel/ SSE3) I also added Semthex's newest kernel, got rid of r3d3 and used dsmos instead. Gcrumpets
Hey i just upgraded from 10.4.6 to .4.9.... ive found when running .4.6 and trying to use the JaS .4.9 combo updater that it will fail so i updated to .4.8 using the apple combo update (intel) that can be downloaded from apple.com WITHOUT REBOOTING then used eGWan Intel SSE3 10.4.8 combo patcher..rebooted with -v, which led to another instant reboot, then it worked fine.....once i was up and running i installed the 10.4.9 update from JaS...clean and simple the whole process took only about 15minutes, bathroom break included. tho before doing any of this id make a backup of my install, because the first time i tried it, i accidently mounted the apple update DMG over y network from another computer then that computer went to sleep and the installer froze.....and everything was ruined. hope this was of some help. skotwarr
What if you are using SSE2 like myself? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47058-best-way-from-1046-to-1049/#findComment-337260 Share on other sites
Gcrumpets
then youll probably have to use the JaS 10.4.8 DVD to get to .4.8 (which i have not been able to download off BitTorrent because it always goes SOOO slow) but there might some other patching method for SSE2 that i dont know about. then seeing as the 10.4.9 updater from JaS says Intell SSE3 and i have no clue what would happen if you tried on an SSE2 machine youd be safer to check this thread, http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=45283&hl= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47058-best-way-from-1046-to-1049/#findComment-337329 Share on other sites
skotwarr
I tried that way and it did not work for me. I just got 10.4.6 working again. Thank you for the advice though, it was worth a shot.
