Jedisinclair
Does anyone know if a PS/2 keyboard will work with a hackintosh or does it have to be USB? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46544-input-devices-keyboard/ Share on other sites
thestevo
I think it might technically depend on your motherboard, but I think its pretty safe to say that you can use PS/2. der_formator
No, it doesn't. At least with my Mac Osx 10.4.8 Amd Sse3 release I get an error Message "please connect your keyboard" or something like that. (See attachment) With another release I didn't have this problem but lots of other problems (USB Mouse didn't work, system hangs when i installed kexts for Radeon X1300) I switched my Mainboard from an Asrock DUAL SATAII (Socket 939, AMD X2 SSE3) to ASUS AN8-E. eggie
i found that if i have my mouse plugged into the usb port and my keyboard in the ps/2 port at start up the keyboard doesn't work, but if use a usb to ps/2 adapters everything works fine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46544-input-devices-keyboard/#findComment-336235 Share on other sites
jape
I switched my Mainboard from an Asrock DUAL SATAII (Socket 939, AMD X2 SSE3) to ASUS AN8-E. That one (A8N-E) works fine with PS/2. The worst problem with PS/2 is that it used the old (NextStep days) HID interface so even if you keyboard happens to have multimedia keys they won't work. You can only map PS/2 Keys to keys of the original Apple ADB Keyboard (all the letters + F1-F16 + Volume Up/Down + Mute + Command, ...). der_formator
Which release do you use? With JaS I get some CPU related kernel panic Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46544-input-devices-keyboard/#findComment-336400 Share on other sites
jape
Which release do you use? With JaS I get some CPU related kernel panic I think it is JaS 10.4.8. Check if you have "USB Legacy" enabled / disabled on the BIOS. der_formator
That's it. Seem as if you have to choose either USB or PS2 for both mouse and keyboard. Thanks!
