Does anybody know how to get Linux or UNIXes (NetBSD, FreeBSD, *BSD, Solaris, etc) running on a Performa 5200CD.

sure, and it is full of guides about it. linuxes and BSDs should run without much problems. the only real problem will be to always have a Mac OS partition to boot from: (if things are changed recently) you can't boot aLinux (or *BSD) direcly on that machine.

Booting on Performas are quite tricky. Back in the oldworld rom days, things between the Mac OS and the hardware were quite tied. I'm sure it can be done.

 

The Performa 5200 series were always one of my favorite old models. :glare:
