I thought, let's have some fun, and try to make my Realtek ALc861 work with either AppleHDA or AppleAC97Audio.

Tried everything for as far as i could.

After i found out that i would not get it to work, i wanted to go back to the Azalia method and i get the following in terminal:

root# kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext
kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext has problems:
Authentication failures:
{
"File owner/permissions are incorrect" = (
	"/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist"
	"/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents"
	"/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleAzaliaAudio"
	"/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/MacOS"
)
}
Missing dependencies:
{
"com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily" =
	"No valid version of this dependency can be found"
"com.apple.iokit.IOHDAudioFamily" =
	"No valid version of this dependency can be found"
}

The owner/permissions i can fix myself, but the part of the missing dependencies i don't get.

Anyone has any clue wich files to edit/replace/delete?

I don't have the AppleHDA.kext, ALCinject.kext or the AppleAC97Audio.kext.

Audio worked before i started messing with it, the only thing is, i don't know what i did wrong.

Please help ;)

Hi, jjduro,

i might have good news for you. I have Realtek Alc861 sound and got it to work using Azalia. I found it in a signature where he mentioned how he got it to work ;)

Just look at this link:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ppleAzaliaAudio

and download the AzaliaAudio.pkg (the first of the three). It worked for me directly :). Just for being sure i would recommend you to use semthex 8.8.1 kernel.

Good luck! Greetings Koen

Ok Koen, I'll try this.

But I'm not very optimistic. I found out that some cards appear to be ALC861, but in fact they are ALC880 or ALC882. Mine is ALC660/861.

thanks

how did yoy found this out?

A friend of mine made a dump of his Asus F3Jc. Mine was bought in Portugal, his was bought in Croacia.

My Asus F3Jc shows:

Codec: Realtek ALC660

Address: 0

Vendor Id: 0x10ec0861

Subsystem Id: 0x10430000

Revision Id: 0x100340

Default PCM:

rates [0x140]: 48000 96000

bits [0xe]: 16 20 24

formats [0x1]: PCM

Default Amp-In caps: N/A

And his Linux sound dump shows:

Hi Def Realtek audio: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0660&SUBSYS_10430000&REV_1000\4&CA78ADC&0&0001

Under linux, identified as ALC882 or ALC880

It is strange. Because it still shows that it is 660......... But it simply doesn't work with azalia, or whatever. Could it be something about the hardware architecture of this F3Jc?

I tried it. And still no sound.

I have a friend that has a F3Jc, next generation, that uses OSX 10.4.10 and the new patched kernel working, and has sound!!!!

This must be some godly vengeance ;)

Digging up quite an old thread.. but..

Anyone here ever actually get this to work with appleazilia. I have tried skippyretards pkg with no luck. I have an ALC862 and would love to see a azilia kext that actually works (same as 861). I have one that detechs my card and i can adject volume but there is no sound out.

I am currently using AppleHDA from taruga and have problems in 10.5.2 with sound skips and no volume control.

Hope one of you guys came up with something that you can share with me.

THANKS
