Soündless
I am experimenting with running different oses on my mbp, and i was wondering if it is at all possible to run osx86 on my mbp. i want to see if exact apple hardware could run osx86 perfectly out of the box. Hagar
weeeeell.. you'd need to get it to boot EFI (unpatch) and get a suitable kernel (the standard apple one will do) and... hey! we've reinvented stock os x! Slinger2g
Wouldn't OS X just install? Aren't the patches relating to the kernel making the X86 part of it? erbic
I've tried to do this... EFI sees it as a "Windows" disc and tries to load its BIOS emulation. Then it just sits there at a blinking cursor. For hours on end. As Hagar said, to make it work we'd be recreating stock OS X, to some extent. lucidmyth
This is exactly what i'm trying to accomplish! I want this because I have a ExpressCard eSATA drive attached which is only recognized (at boot time) in legacy BIOS mode... I want to boot from the external drive which is perfectly possible for Linux and Windows. Anybody any ideas? lucidmyth
If the driver works on osx86 I think it should work on a MacBook. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46038-run-osx86-on-macbook-pro/#findComment-354059 Share on other sites
sev7en
It should work with no issue because you have to evaluate the starting system... exactly an Apple machine . Anyway what strange test Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46038-run-osx86-on-macbook-pro/#findComment-354189 Share on other sites
