ravez
i installed Maya 8.5 on Hackintosh on 10.4.8 and it works perfectly, but i have an annoying tearing effect in the viewport, as if there was no vsync...anyone's got a solution? riktor
Same here, I just use Maya in windows for now then render in OS X for Shake, being that my 6800 is Softmodded to a Quadro 4000 which is much faster and has no issues with hardware rendering. But your right its a Vsynch issue. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45131-maya-85-tearing-in-viewport/#findComment-325715 Share on other sites

ravez
disabling beam sync didn't help..there must be a way to solve this issue...other than this maya runs perfectly... this is really frustrating Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45131-maya-85-tearing-in-viewport/#findComment-334445 Share on other sites

ravez
fx1500 with titan, also i get "unknow nvidia", maybe this is related to the problemof the tearing...should i try macvidia drivers? riktor
macvidia will get you nowhere I think, This could have something to do with the availability of that card specifically for mac, did you have to enter the ID info to the plist when you installed titan? ravez
no, i installed 10.4.8 with natit included (i had to check it through ad hoc installation) and then upgraded to 10.4.9, i never saw the name of my card displayed in the info Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45131-maya-85-tearing-in-viewport/#findComment-339212 Share on other sites
riktor
hmm, I really dont know then... I havent done the upgrade from 10.4.8 and my tearing isnt so bad that I cant work in maya, but I prefer my windows performance anyway. It could be that your card wasnt detected right and you should read up on how to put your device id in the plist file from Titan/natit. ravez
i'll try that, thanks a lot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45131-maya-85-tearing-in-viewport/#findComment-339646 Share on other sites
ravez
unbelieavable....i've discovered that the tearing issue is bounded to the presence of whatever floating panel open in maya if u have for example the outline panel in floating mode instead of docked there will be no tearing...same goes for every other kind of floating panel....now i know i can work in maya on my hackintosh! but i still have to check out the fps rate compared to XP i've tried a simple animated scene in OSX and got 110 fps, but it was a very lowpoly character walk cycle...tried on a high poly subd face and fps was down to 25 fps, not more...while in XP i get over 60...i guess here comes to play OpenGL 2.0 (XP) vs OpenGL 1.4.12(OSX 10.4.8.) i'll give it a try getting back to 10.4.9 and see if it goes better Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45131-maya-85-tearing-in-viewport/#findComment-350605 Share on other sites
riktor
hmm thanks for that... I guess for the time being maya will just be an XP or Linux app for me, but the fact the we can at least use maya in OSX is something though.
