Hi,

Whenever I click on About this mac, it closes all programs and it looks like the GUI restarts. I am running on Jas 10.4.8. Got the same install on my Dell E1705 and it works perfectly. Now I installed it on my desktop. Seems like everything is working fine, it's just when I click on this that it seems to do this but I can't tell for sure, have not played around much with the desktop. At first I thought it was the videocard Nvidia 5200 FX that was not setup after install - artifacts and mouse tearing was very bad until I install Natit and now display works beautiful on my Dell 20" at 1680x1050. But I still have the same problem on "About this mac", so I am qlueless what the problem is.

Any advice or anybody got an idea what the problem is.

Thanks

Jaco

Replace the loginwindow.app with the file from this post:

Don't forget to repair permissions afterwards.

Almost forgot, the loginwindow.app can be found in

/System/Library/Coreservices

Any help appreciated. When you guys say to boot in single user mode do you mean all the way up to the GUI or the command prompt? When I get to the command prompt, the system is mounted in read-only so I cant replace loginwindow.app. When I tried to move on and load the GUI she crapped out on me. Any ideas?

-Never mind figured it out
