Oh, I have problems with preferneces in iTunes 7.1 on my amd hackintosh.

Opening Preferences from the menu cause hanging of iTunes.

If I open Preferences by the shortcut, they appeared, but categories are empty, and iTunes crashed after few seconds.

I've never heard about this kind of problem before.

What can I do?

I installed the update yesterday and everything is working fine so far. It did however, uninstall my Uno theme. But I can reapply that with no trouble.

I can't really say that I like the fullscreen Coverflow though. I kind of liked it better when it was it's own program. The album art sorta moved when you moved your mouse around the screen.

So I heard Fullscreen Coverflow and got all excited...then I realized, while gorgeous it wasn't very functional. Why hadn't apple put it into FrontRow. It needs remote control functionability as many have suggested.

So I gave it some despite the fact I couldn't write a lick of code. Unfortunately it does include running another program in the background, and doesn't work unless iTunes is the activated program....still.....

Get iTunes 7.1, then grab Remote Buddy (http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&obj_type=infogroup&obj_id=24&sid=3423301G621768da556ebf60&o_infogroup_objcode=infogroup-23)

It's free for 60 days, after that, well, I haven't got that far.

Within Remote Buddy preference you can set different actions for keys with a program. For use with full screen cover flow you'll need to create a few custom actions mine are:

Next Album- just enter the right directional arrow and tag the little box which says "hold key, don't repeat presses)

Previous Album- same but w/ left arrow

Play Selected Album - just push the enter key in the box

CoverFlow - push F and then check the command box (This allows you to switch in and out of fullscreen CoverFlow via remote)

Then you have to pick how you assign them to the keys mostly a personal choice. However, I find that both the right (tap) and right (hold) should be assigned with the Next Album function. This enables one click scrolling, or the user to hold down the button to continue.

And there you have it. From iTunes as the active application, from across the room, you can bring up fullscreen cover flow (assuming you are already in coverflow view), select your album via remote, play them, control volume, switch tracks, and go back out of full screen. All with your little remote.

Finally, I can have a drink across the room and let friends scoll my library.

Good Luck,

JB

I'm a AMD OSX user and both updates work fine.

I used the "iTunes1048SemthexPrefFixer.pkg" (wich can be found somewhere else on the forum) after the iTunes update and don't have any problems with iTunes.

Ok, I'm having the same problems with the iTunes preferences. When I try to access preferences, iTunes locks up and will not respond. I can play tunes, but when examine the properties of an mp3, most of the properties are missing.

So where is this "iTunes1048SemthexPrefFixer.pkg"? I searched on that filename and the only thing that came up was this thread. Someone, please, please supply a direct link to this file.

OK, found the link after about 20-30 minutes of searching. To save other folks the trouble, here's the relevant thread:
