Hi

I have Mac version 10.4.6 and I have it working on my Dell GX260. I tried to get it on my main computer but I get the "Still waiting for root device" error for which I haven't solved yet. Could my Dell GX260 run Final Cut pro and programs like Garageband etc well?

Also, my main computer has 2 S-ATA hard drives and two IDE DVD drives. Does 10.4.6 support S-ATA and would 10.4.8 get rid of this root device error as my main computer is a lot more powerful?

Thanks.

The root error is very common and can happen for different reasons.

I have no idea what the GX260 specs are so check the wiki (wiki.osx86project.org) for compatibility.

I believe 10.4.8 supports S-ATA but I am not sure about your case. Again, check the compatiblity list/forum for that.

Give 10.4.8 a try. It seems to improve a lot of things.

Hi

I know the compatibility of my GX260. I have Mac 10.4.6 already on that.

I was wondering if that GX260 could run programs lie Final cut pro and Garage band.

it has a 3GHz P4 processor

an ATI graphics card(don't know much about that)

512MB RAM

MATISHU DVD ROM CD RW drive.

Try it and find out.

Garageband should be ok, but for finalcut. . . considering how much it costs already, you're wasting it to run it on anything but a real mac. You'll need to at least double your memory, anyway.

10.4.6 supports SATA. Get an ICH-7 motherboard for the PC.
