Takuro
Here are some photos I took while going on a trip to upstate New York. This just goes to show two things: 1) Microsoft is trying very very hard to advertise for their newest operating system 2) If you take a photo while walking quickly, it will look like {censored} There were Vista ads everywhere. They literally bought every available advertising slot in Penn Station except for one or two. The only non-Windows ads I saw there were for T-Mobile and vitamin water. You could find yourself in the bathroom staring at the words "Don't search. Find" with a picture of a magnifying glass. My teacher once put it this way: You see tons of ads for Toyota trucks in the daily paper because they're cheap. You'll never see an ad for a Ferrari. Why? If you really know what was the best car to buy, you wouldn't exactly find inspiration on the page next to the Charlie Brown comics.
kevin_4e
That's interesting. I'm sure advertisements like those encourage students to go out and purchase their OS. I wonder if they're doing this across the nation in several other schools.
DiaboliK
i saw one of the vista "wow starts now" billboard in the middle of Van Nuys, Ca (*ghetto*). i just started laughing cause i dont think half the people who live there know what vista is, let alone, the internet. Takuro
Oh yea, Apple NEVER advertises... Well when's the last time you saw an ad on TV or a billboard ad that specifically said "OS X Tiger: the world's most advanced operating system?" Aside from heavy iPod advertising (but hey, just about everybody has an iPod these days, just as everybody uses Windows in the computer market), Apple has only recently started frequent Mac advertising. Even so, it's easy for somebody to see those commercials and miss the concept entirely. It isn't as "in your face" as Microsoft's campaign. Xenctuary
There's loads of adverts on the London Underground, they are all about finding "wow".
kevin_4e
It isn't as "in your face" as Microsoft's campaign. You would never say that about Apple if they had a campaign like that (I may be wrong though ). It's just a way of advertiseing and nothing more. I don't think their style is of the equivalence of "OS X Tiger: the world's most advanced operating system" by any means. Imo, I don't see anything wrong.
