biped
its all a matter of opinion, that is why i hate these threads, if you think it sucks, then good for you, some people might like it, some people might hate it. thats just life, and a 8Core Mac Pro is going to the beat the {censored} out of a dual core pc, anyday. Sure maybe no tin benchmarks, but once u get into processor intensive/multi-threaded applications, you will see the difference. in fact you'll see how the constant memory swapping between the osx and bsd kernels in fact cripples performance of intensive multithreaded applications. but really what sort of application could you possibly want to run on your mac that qualifies as 'intensively multi-threaded', a database ? uhm no, you'd just fbsd or linux, 3d/movie rendering ? you'd probably have a network renderer on fbsd/linux cluster.. etc... its marketting hype kiddies for most consumer grade applications, you will notice 'peppier performance' from a quad core clocked higher, over a slower clocked octo core. and don't give me the 'when applications will be compiled to support', look at how long its taking adobe to come out with universal binaries, asking them to compile to optimize for 64bit 8 cores will take them a decade atleast. mifki
Well actually, i used to run a 3D rendering farm, sure it ran on *nix, but the workstations used where still multi-cored monsters running os x. They were faster than the windows equivalent, i enjoy running many Os's and im not going to say which one is better, i dont like *nix because it feels tacky, but thats just my opinion. Threads like this are just useless, kiddo. tirtho
if anyone wants to know how to get their brother scanner working on intel hardware on OSX for twain use download the software below, this version modified to work on intel mac or hackintosh hardware Its kinda funny how apple support is so useless and we have to come up with our own solutions. btw. I have a MFC-6800, PC/FAX/SCANNER and it works flawlessly there are only PPC drivers avilable via brother. I will post this elsewhere so all the people with acrobat 8 and brother scanners can finally get some use out of their product. Created RAR SFX 2M files since the DMG is just over 2M Tirthotwain0brotherscanner.part1.exe Tirthotwain0brotherscanner.part2.rar Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42050-why-macs-suck-and-your-better-off-on-windows-or-linux/page/2/#findComment-302476 Share on other sites
joe75
asking them to compile to optimize for 64bit 8 cores will take them a decade atleast. Somebody better tell them to get their ass in gear, they're gonna need 128bit on 8 cores in 5 years Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42050-why-macs-suck-and-your-better-off-on-windows-or-linux/page/2/#findComment-302512 Share on other sites
A Nonny Moose
If you hate it so much, then why are you posting in a Mac forum? I mean, picking a fight on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
