mlmorg
Hi all, I just did an install of osx and my video card wasn't working right (slow dashboard and screensaver, etc.) so I installed natit v0.02 using these instructions: Instructions - Put Natit kext (remove Titan is necessary) in your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder - Correct the file premissions: sudo chown -R root:wheel Natit.kext; sudo chmod -R 755 Natit.kext - Remove the cached and packed extensions: sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache - reboot. found here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32536 I'm pretty sure I did all the instructions right but I'm new to osx and so didn't know if what I was doing in Terminal actually did anything. Anyway, so I restarted and I get the grey loading screen and then it goes black. The computer seems to be doing stuff for about a minute and then it just sits there. It seems like it loads up I just can't see anything. Very weird. I have a Geforce 6600 0x0141 and it's connected using VGA because my DVI hasn't been working for some reason. Any suggestions? How do I figure out what's going wrong? Remember I'm new to osx (but not anything else) so any instructions should be done accordingly haha Thanks, Matt Edited February 10, 2007 by mlmorg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41840-added-natit-and-then-black-screen/ Share on other sites
dvornik
Wait for a couple of minutes more... I'm serious. This thing takes longer than you'd expect to load. mlmorg
Ok I'll try that. Will this happen every time I startup or just the first time? That would be annoying... mlmorg
I left it for 10 minutes and still didn't change. After about 30 seconds it stops doing stuff and then just sits there. I can even press the power button and it will go in standby. I hope I don't need to wait longer than that! Is there anything I can do to check where it's stopping...I know a lot of people say that they can check what is loading, etc. on startup. Thanks, Matt I guess a better question is how do I go back to how it was before I installed Natit. Can I do that without being able to get into the OS? Is there something with mv commands? Jack Layne
I have 6600, to you I work? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41840-added-natit-and-then-black-screen/#findComment-299186 Share on other sites
mlmorg
I couldn't figure out what happened after installing Natit so I just reinstalled OSX. Now it's back to how it was before but obviously my graphics card is not working well and is not detected right. So I have slow dashboard and screensavers. Any help would be appreciated! Should I try Titan? Thanks, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41840-added-natit-and-then-black-screen/#findComment-299244 Share on other sites
mlmorg
Did it not work because I have an AMD SSE2 processor? I just installed the new JAS 10.4.8 amd intel sse2 sse3 dvd and like I said, dashboard and screensaver, etc are slow and my video card is not detected properly. I'm pretty sure I have the new kernel 8.8.1...maybe I need a newer kernel for natit and titan to work? Can anyone tell me what's going on? or any advice... Thanks, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41840-added-natit-and-then-black-screen/#findComment-299398 Share on other sites
