karmatose
Frustrated with the limitations of the AppleHDA fixes and sick of only having two chanel audio, I took some action and bought a Griffin Firewave. If you have a Hackintosh and desire 5.1 audio this is what you need to get. No mucking around with anything. Just plug it in, set it as your default audio device in audio prefrences and enjoy 5.1 audio and keyboard volume controls. The sound quality is amazing. Im using an old set of Logitech Z560's and it makes them sing. Crisp highs, deep lows with no distortion, its simply great. Its possibly the best these speakers have sounded since i had my old Audigy in my pc many years ago before i switched over to the Mac. Long and short of it, buy this hardware if you want simple 5.1 audio. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41620-griffin-fiirewave/ Share on other sites

eire3678
No audio in on the FireWave. I'm sure it works great on most systems but it's sitting in a box under my desk right now as it refuses to output anything in full 5.1. I'm using a Bad Axe 2 board and have switched to the onboard for now. Maybe in the next point update it'll start working correctly for me. macgirl
Bah: Does the FireWave feature digital coax or optical outputs? No I prefer my driverless M-Audio USB Sonica Theater 7.1, that have input and Digital Output (coaxial).
