Hello all,

I have just installed the Jas 10.4.6, got over the b0 error (thatnks to the forum), but now once i go to load up, the grey apple screen loads and the loading circle spins but nothing happens. I have left it on for hours so it's not just me being impacient.

I have a compatible sse3 cpu etc, and its also been installed on a new hard drive. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

How do you mean,

we installed directly from the ISO disk, through darwin and just followed the on screen installation.

Thanks

you did do a custom install correct? make sure you choose the Intel, or AMD options, not both or it wont work.

I had same problem on HP DC7100 SFF desktop untill I did custom. now it rocks

I am going to try more workstatons too

This is the random image i get on the apple logo!

@sweetasabadger

How did you work it out? I am now also having this problem of the grey apple logo screen being frozen on bootup.

I did not choose the AMD kernel in addition to the Intel. Only the Intel as I'm running on a Celeron 2.8 on an 865 chipset.

Still looking hard for next steps to this.

Thx

Hello, i went back to reinstall and selected customise in the option for install type. There i selected the most relevant settings i.e. Intel as i hadn't done so before. The system then started without any problems. I am running an Intel p4.

Hope this helps. (When reisntalling all the options i.e. Intel etc have explanations making it simple enough to decide what should be installed or not)

Enjoy

You know that little "Do Not Enter sign" means there was an error loading some required software. You can find out this error in verbose mode by booting up with the -v flag.

If you read the forum you may have found out that that is what you need to do. You could've saved yourself a lot of time and given the people who may have been able to help you a chance to figure out what was wrong.

@Faluk, before you install there is a little tab that will say "Advanced Options" in the installation wizard. Click that and it will bring up the needed information :D

i am having the same gray apple screen error.. got that do not enter symbol as well. i tried to check it in verbose mode but it then started running the installation dvd.. was not able to get the cause of the problem. i also tried to install without all the add-ons but still get the same problem. help!!!

@frenchie, where exactly is this advanced options.. was not able to see that during the installation..

i was able to get past that screen. i customized the installation and made sure that the things that i only need will be installed. however, i get to the starting OS X page and get stalled after. looking for a solution for that now.
