chevy2410 Posted February 9, 2007 Share Posted February 9, 2007 What I would do is, you want to keep windows safe for now right? If so I would totally remove that windows drive from the machine. Then take the HD you want to use and install it to the second spot on the ide cable you have. The first spot will be for the dvd drive. Make sure dvd drive is master and HD is slave. So just move the jumper on the HD. Most HD's have a diagram on them to so what position is what. If it doesn't, go to the manufacture's site and lookup your model. Use this way only if you are using an ide drive. SATA drive's are different. It doesn't matter if they are on primary chain or not. You just plug them into an SATA spot on the mobo and plug in the power and you're good to go. When you pop open the case take a look closely at the mobo and find out what model it is. Then go to the manufacture's site and lookup the specs. You willl then find out exactly what you have. Or did setting your DVD Drive as master and IDE HD as slave do the trick? Thanks.
