Keeping the information content of the hackintosch subsection at a high level!

Concerning the fact that the forum is growing at an incredibly fast speed I would like to talk to you about how we can keep the information content of this site at it’s high level.

I am by far no JaS, Ramjet nor Semthex just an ordinary mac freak who enjoys the fact the above mentioned people enabled me to use the OS I was longing for, for so many years but couldn't afford a real mac.

I have been using OS x now for a few months and try to contribute to the questions asked as far as I encountered similar problems or even understand what the issue is.

On some days I check the forum way more often that I should and spend more time researching here than in the library where I ought to be at the moment couse my first exam is due in 6 days!

Some things that really annoy me while grasing the forum are people who post and do not bother to use the search function!

Yes of course it is easier to post a question than to bother searching and find out that there are many double triple posts to one and the same question! And of course sometimes you do a search but just overlook a post concerning exactly your own issue.

Never the less I don’t like searching and having to click through many pages with Zero benefit post asking questions that have been either answered in the Genius bar, The HLC or else where.

Although I must admit I do like some of your answers to those questions:

Q:I have a Intel centrono PC, how do I put MAC OS ina may PC?

A: uh... you get a disc, you boot it, you install it.

In german there is the expression: “Frühlingsputz” probably translated best with spring clean up, where everybody cleans up there house and makes it nice and tidy.

I therefore would appreciate if the search function had a higher priority by the new members and wanted to ask if “Zero info double triple post” can be deleted to keep the Information content of this site high!

This is not about cutting freedom of speech but fighting freedom to spam.

Well, this forum cannot actively help anyone install OSX86 in public anyway. It's against the rules and should be reported if it is happening on the forum. What we can do is give assistance to those who already have it installed on their systems or give recommendations for those looking for compatible parts.

And so... by your reasoning, the OSX86 Installation forum and the Tutorials forum don't exist? Seems like both those forums are for helping people install.

But I do agree that people should search. They won't, though. Most people will absolutely refuse to do two things:

1) Read the pinned topics.

2) Use the clearly marked search button.

:hysterical:

I do not agree with u again.

Well then they just would not have to go into thing that they cant handle. I mean If u cant install the mac right and u do not even bother to search how to install it first, then why should a moderator or someone who is here with the brains should give him advice? I mean there are many people who are like this. Just tried to install his mac osx 86 on his board and when something goes wrong they come here crying! And the number of these people keeps on growing every day.

My suggestion is that people should first find out what the "hackintosh" is all about before going to torrnet and downloading it........

I agree completely with you, ggx240.

Perhaps my post wasn't clear enough(actually, I know it wasn't. It's not particularly clear to me, either.).

What I was saying is this: I've been a member of many Internet forums, several of them technically oriented. And I always see the same thing: People who could have found their answer by searching or reading pinned topics choose to ignore those and post a noobish question, and proceed to get flamed for it. Thankfully, the flaming part doesn't happen here(not much).

The first sentence of my post was directed towards A Nonny Moose. He implied that these forums are NOT for helping people install OSX86; as I see it, they are.
