It's since 4 days that I'm reading guides and searching with Google but still I didn't understand why it doesnt work or find a post with the same problem. sekame
You need to press any key when prompt for it on dvd boot, if you don't press a key the system try to boot from hard disk and you get this error. sonnet
thanks Tomnic for your reply,I think you are right as after your post I tried on a laptop and the DVD started (though I couldn't go on with the installationas there wasnt an empty partition on the laptop so the installer didn't find any disk on which install it).So it seems I canot install Mac on my pc. Try to install 10.4.7, using vmWare method. Then you can update your 10.4.7 to 10.4.8, using Apple Combo Update. I also had this error on my laptob, but vmWare method solved this. sonnet
But with wmware method can I obtain a native installation? Where i can find the tutorial for that method? tomnic
Yes you can, all you have to do is to use a real partition to install the os, not virtual disks. Then, if you activate that partition native Mac Os X should start. Try Memtestx86 to find out if your DDR is in trouble. http://www.memtest.org/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38877-system-config-file-comapplebootplist-not-found/#findComment-278200 Share on other sites

Shanems3
to fix this problem , go in bios and change ide type to achi instead of raid or ide, raid and ide doesnt work, ahci is the only one that will.. fragreaver
Facing the same error here I wanted to reinstall my system, because iLife caused freezes (probably because of unclear removement). Nothing on the system has changed since the last time I installed it, and back then it worked flawlessly. I even copied the com.apple.Boot.plist to /Tiger/Library/SystemPreferences/ from the dvd (chmod to 777, too). Non of it worked. Already tried to preformat it - no chance. Any other OS works fine, so no HDD error here. What the hell could that be? The DVD is not scratched (I treat it as a raw egg, actually) and the hardware didn't change at all. aaaaaaanybody Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38877-system-config-file-comapplebootplist-not-found/#findComment-278339 Share on other sites
patatester
i think Shogunprotege might be right. the AHCI option had helped me during the linux install process with a P5B. If you look around on the forums of the linux community ( i.e. gentoo ), there seem to be quite a few people having problems installing / booting from a live cd. This seems to be related to the DVD drive being hooked up on the JMicron controller for which there is not much driver support. Maybe its the same situation here? Just a thought.. MWhite
I have the same problem 'System config file "/com.apple.Boot.plist' by trying to install fresh downloaded "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3" patched with "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSe2.SSe3.v1p" ppf and burned with 2x speed on reliable Pioneer burner. On the same machine is perfectly working "Test Mac OS X 10.4.8 AMD SSE2" patched with "OSX_1048_AMD_SSE3_PPF2" and installed via VMware on physical disk. I tryed same DVD on other machine with identical Proc, MB, memory and GPU. I tryed both VMware and native install. This never happens to me before. fragreaver
AHCI is only for SATA-Drives, right? Because if so, it won't work for me, because I use a 40gb IDE Goddamnit. I'm starting to seriously hate computers xD Just for the records, I'm Using Mac.OSX.10.4.8.SSE3.AMD.TEST1 from Tubgirl. And it worked before with no problems. The verification of the DVD during the install shows nothing, too. MWhite
Just for the records, I'm Using Mac.OSX.10.4.8.SSE3.AMD.TEST1 from Tubgirl. And it worked before with no problems. The verification of the DVD during the install shows nothing, too. Same situation for me. I use the same Mac.OSX.10.4.8.SSE3.AMD.TEST1 patched with PPF2 and it worked like charm. Now with "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3" patched with "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSe2.SSe3.v1p" ppf I have this error. It has to be some errors DVD image. I had 10.4.3, -6, -7 and Test -8 and have never expirienced this problem before. I DL now "Mac OS X 10.4.8 JaS PPF 1 Integrated". Sometimes tomorrow i'll test it and will post results. devilhood
I just got the HFS+ Partition Error upon reboot of a successful install using the vp1 patched iso. However, it will only boot the installed OS X partition (ICH8) if I leave the DVD in the drive to time-out at Darwin prompt. Weird, I'm going to try a few things and see if I can rectify the problem. fragreaver
But, what I'm wondering about: After the install, I checked the existance of com.apple.Boot.plist in /Tiger/Library/Preferences/SystemPreferences/. It was there. So, why can't the bootloader find it? I'm downloading another version. Strange thing is, nothing, absolutely nothing changed till the last installation. The only thing I always had to do, was to set "cpus=1" as a boot-parameter, otherwise it hangs on the apple-screen. It would be pretty up, if it won't work anymore. Anyone of the Pros has a solution? Jas, Ramjet (and any other pro I forgot )? Any1?
