hte new jas dvd wouldnt let me do it for the life of me on ide.. kept having panics, when i set my sata to achi and bought a dvd-rw sata , it booted right up and went to town, i have a clean install of mac with windows vista on other partition, also everything i mac works except for ide, usb , and sound..

I did it. (At least I hope!?!) :thumbsdown_anim:

I had to extract RAR-ed iso file again. I did this time with WinRAR. Before I extracted image on the other machine with 7-Zip and apparently something went wrong.

So I extracted it with WinRAR, patched with ppf1, burned image on DVD, started VMware and hited enter during boot countdown. This time installation started correctly.

NO MORE 'System config file "/com.apple.Boot.plist' THIS TIME!!!!!

Now I am waiting for installation to end.

thats good, good thign about vmware is that it emulates what mac wants to see.. i did a clean install from boot. , vm ware can emulate the sata drives for you.. i tried to go that boat but it was taking to long.. so 50 bucks got a sata dvd drive.. solved all of my installation problems, now i just have to get the post installation working..

btw, as far as I read, this is the only install that will work with the motherboard I have which is the msi 965 neo

If I try Setting the IDE business to "raid" rather than "ide" I get the same results. do I need to have a sata dvd drive?

would it be possible to copy the iso into a hard drive format and boot from that? And then install fromt he drive to another drive?
