tomblat Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 Hi, I want to buy an external HD (LaCie d2, 500GB) and put all my itunes files as well as all my digital photographs on it. I am using an iMac Pro with OS X 10.4 I also want to make sure that I can make those files available to my kids who got PCs ( one is using Win XP, the other Win 2000). Is that possible on the same HD partition, or do I have to create two different partitions (one for OS X, one for Windows) on the external HD and duplicate all files? Looking forward to input. tomblat Posted January 12, 2007 Author Share Posted January 12, 2007 Thanks for the inputs :-) I understand that I got 2 options: a) partition the HD in FAT32 and accept the 4GB file size limit buy MacDrive, which allows me to use the (better) HFS Since I don't really expect single files to exceed 4GB, my primary decision criteria for the given options is speed, using the HD 90% of the time with my iMac.
