pp77
My laptop hardware: Mobile AMD Sempron 3100+ (SSE3) 512 Mb Ram S3 IGP Integrated AGP 64 Mb 40 Gb PATA HD Sony DVD+CDRW ComboRealtek AC97 Via 8235 Chipset (K8N800 Mb) USB 2.0 Via Rhine II ethernet Atheros 5005 GS Wifi MiniPCI Downloaded and installed Tubgirl's release (until now the fastest & most straightforward imo). Replaced IO80211Family.kext with the 10.4.5 one, wireless worked, but every time I rebooted it lost it's configuration making me enabling it every time i've logged in (probably related to the switch on my laptop, it uses a Fn function and I don't have any clues on how to make it permanent - anyone knows?). Installed Pinxue Via Rhine extension and it worked flawlessly until now. Sound worked from the box, without any fiddling. Cpu fan is always on making it very annoying to concentrate , tried installing some kext to solve this problem from the tutorials only to have my system frozen, given up since. USB 1.1 works with the developer kit from Apple (for the 10.4.8 release, I also followed the tutorials extensivelly), USB 2.0 didn't work and consumed a lot of Cpu power, tried replacing extensions to no avail, leaving me with no access to a lot of USB hardware. Also I noticed something when booting: I get a lot of "Family specific matching" errors. Does anyone knows any workarounds for these issues? Be glad if someone could help. Thanks in advance. Overclocked Tardis
... Also I noticed something when booting: I get a lot of "Family specific matching" errors. So do I. But they don't bother me, lol. I figured it was just some of the kexts I installed and forgot to remove some of the device Id's from Info.plist. Concerning re-enableing your .kext after every boot manually - please, don't get mad at me, lol. I'm not sure if this will work, lol - try making a new startup/login item in the Users prefpane and having it point to a bash script .command file that loads your .kext upon each login and check the hidden toolbox for sense of transparency. Well, just an idea Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37959-amd-1048-final-tubgirl/#findComment-270508 Share on other sites

aver3700
Hey PP77 You have the same Laptop as I am. I am now using 10.4.7. I manage to get almost everything work. I use Ralink Wifi RT61. This card have Mac OS driver available on their site. My USB 2.0 work by using USB 2.0 Hub (real small one) but I still got problem with OpenGL very slow, and I can't play any movie DVD either with Mac DVD Player or VLC. About USB 2.0 I think you may try this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=28559 I am thinking about upgrade to 10.4.8 but wonder there are any better than my current box. Can you play DVD movie? Thanks I used 10.4.8 and could play video files without any major problems (with VLC Media Player). I tried the method in that tutorial to no avail. Better times will come I hope. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37959-amd-1048-final-tubgirl/#findComment-271746 Share on other sites
