temis
Hi every1 ! I just downloaded latest JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso + applied the patch, but I don't seem to be able to run 10.4.8 neither under VMWARE 6.0 beta (host is vista) nor From the bootable DVD !! When I try to install from boot DVD, detection and install processes are very SLOW (about 1h30), when I reboot from HDD I get a panic : 0x003A8D2F unable to find ACPI driver then system freezes immediately (maybe other kernel panic are to be expected since I never could get any further) I guess there are some BIOS features to enable or disable but I don't know which one Maybe something to do in -s mode during the first boot before entering the OSX GUI but I haven't found any hint about that Can someone give me or point to an up to date procedure to install properly with my hardware (in sig) ? Thanks you all for your help ! temis
Ok nidas, I saw that many users could install 10.4.8 on similar rigs without problem, so can you give me the procedure you used and the BIOS tweaks to help me with my installation ? c86
i also have pretty much the same system, i installed the 10.4.8 intel sse3 only version with semthex kernel. the only thing i changed in bios was turning off the hd audio, which i read here somewhere should be enabled after first boot. never bothered to test it though since my gfx-card (msi 7900gto 512mb, like yours) wont work because of this. if you still want to give it a try, you might want to take a look at this blog (which i also found here somewhere). sg
i'm assuming you're using the new jas sse2/sse3/amd release? i havent installed that and i think most of us used simply the 10.4.8 SS3 release a while back. is this your first time installing OSX? anyways, try to disable a few things in your bios first, disable the audio, the jmicron controller, disable speedstep in the cpu section. also how is your dvd-rom connected? does connect in your ICH7R IDE port and what about the drive you're trying to install on? make sure its in SATA1-3 or something on ICH7R and not jmicron. i'll grab the new release later today and test it out on the p5w-dh and report back. Thanks Temis thanks to having itchy overclocking fingers I never had to do any biostweaks since most of the onboard {censored} already was disabled before i even tried to install a operatingsystem for the first time but back then i installed to a PATA drive, which still works like a charm, my problem atm is the raptor. new iso downloading as we speak to see if it fixed stuff. temis
Finally got it to work with non patched new JaS DVD ... - had to remove natit.kext which caused black sreen at startup - working in vesa now and windows are showing a lot of breakup when they are moved - scrolling anywhere (apps, safari ...) is very nasty too - keyboard map is not very accurate (french here) other than that system is quite fast xbench -> 126 Any news of new drivers for 7900 GTO or any nVidia graphic cards with 512 Mo ? Has any1 tried the latest JaS DVD with patch ? Something I didn't noticed at first is that the installation process didn't complete ; it would always suggest to restart after 75% of JaS install package, not showing the installation items review nor the optimization precess and all this without any sign of a crash. sg
Any news of new drivers for 7900 GTO or any nVidia graphic cards with 512 Mo ? i dont think so, only solution is to get macvidia driver and not get any 3D accelration at all or try and replace your card for a 256m version. glad everything is working great for you. i'm almost done downloading the new release myself and will update my blog at : http://rakis.net/~justin/blog for p5w-dh users. temis
Probably burning the iso was the problem cause MD5 were OK before and after patch, I'll check that later now that OSX is running sounds like a broken installer or packages, maybe even a bad iso or burn. temis
Is it possible to download updates directly from apple.com or autoupdate without compromising the whole thing? Thanks a lot for your help Edited January 7, 2007 by temis Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37796-asus-p5w-dh-deluxe-users-please-help/#findComment-270440 Share on other sites
sg
depends on what the update it. usually anything that wont modify/replace kernel or some specific kexts. application related ones are almost 99% safe, some security or os updates might be a problem. usually best to wait and see, or test it on a 2nd partition that you could setup for just osx testing. aberracus
hii was using until today rthe mobo in my sig, now i have changed to asus p5w dh deluxe... ok i can overclock more but the system is slower, if i put the ide devices on ACHI (connected to Intecl ICH7R sata ports) the system is crawling slow, and the ich is detected as a generic achi,,, so im using it in standard ide withenchanced mode for sata.. wich makes the drives walk faster but really they dont run.. my xbench is 146 wich is way slower than my previous mobo 150 with the CPU OC only to 2.6 then now im in 2.9 ghz. Another thing is the video card im using a Nvdia 7900 GS 256 mb (BFG) , works ok, but seems slow in the xbench... i have beam sync disabled and Q2d enabled, other thing with the nvidia and natit is the black screen and signal off in the screen for like 20 seconds just before the desktop appear, isnt that corrected?, im using natit uni insaller...
