The "Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations" is supposed to be a place for knowledgeable people to post useful information. Instead it has turned into a n00b-magnet forum of "Critique My Parts", "Build Me Hack-it-t0sh" and "Wat is teh Best Motherboard for OSX86?" threads.

While I know that the "Hardware" forum is supposed to be used for this sort of stuff, I think it is clear that a place more clearly designated for these types of threads, like the OSx86 Installation forum, is needed. On a related note, there seem to be an absurb of these "Build Advice Sought" threads being create here anyways. Some people actually find a need to create more than one thread for the same build because they are not getting their questions answered in their first thread (or decide to break it up their questions into one thread per part).

Part of the problem here is that people who know the answers are sick of posting the same information over and over again (frankly, usless it is something interesting, I do not do it anymore). It seems clear to me that the Wiki is not being used as it should here, whereby somekind of "Everything About Building a Hackint0sh" page should be readily availble, up to date and every n00b should know about it.

Otherwise, I think the moderators could be much more aggressive with locking threads, moving them to the correct forums and dealing with repeat-offenders (do I need to mention "retroz"?). Again, I would like to suggest that this board needs to get some more moderators.

It would be nice if the "what must i buy questions" would be moved to the proper places. May it be to "buying suggestions" or something new i dont care. Also people who kick their topic 1, 2 or sometimes more times a day. Sometimes you can see that they havent tried to find anything theirself becuase the questions comes along everyday.

Something that could help also, is when someone joins he has to wait a week before he can post. That way hopefully he discovers the forum, how things work here, where questions are placed and where you can find answers already given, via search.

In a week you can do a lot of research, i know i did ;)

I would say if you need "build advice", the" Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations" thread is where I think it would be posted, whats the f@ckin difference between building and buying or recommendations

jgrimes80, you don't have nothing to be sorry for and I hope things work out for you.

It's apparent to me that I've been a part of this problem. Sorry, bofors, I didn't mean to contribute with my workstation thread (didn't know where to turn) and thanks for extending advice anyways.

This really was not meant to be a criticism of you personally, but rather the design of board.

... whats the f@ckin difference between building and buying or recommendations.

The difference in the content in of threads spawned in huge. With the exception of jpgrimes' thread, almost all of the "advice" threads are redundant. The information is available elsewhere and in many case, like "which is the best motherboard for OSx86", these questions have already been answered on the board hundreds of times.

Any thread about a good deal on computer components or a router review would get buried in this {censored}. A seperate forum and clearly marked forum is needed. It should be understood that it is n00b-forum too, like the "OSx86 Installation" forum is in some ways.

Or just a sticky. I think it could also go as a subforum under Hardware. There does seem to be a number of these new threads every week, and I haven't been helping by posting my own questions and replying in the many "build advice" threads (though sometimes with just the HCL link).

you know, there's a reason i have the 'wiki' hyperlink in my signature

it's for situations such as this. i too was a noob at one time but you know, i'm not helpless...hell the homepage for this community says it all - the "blue" pill or the "red" pill. take the blue pill and then if you your unsure, take the red one and see how far the rabbit hole goes...

:-D
