crossbones
Any ideas. I have a new system that's really tricked out with the 1950 Pro and it appears that there isn't any support for it yet. I thought since it was based on the X1900 series of cards it would work. I haven't built my new system yet, its not all arrived yet, but I would like to know who might know the most about this. BarryBar
Any ideas. I have a new system that's really tricked out with the 1950 Pro and it appears that there isn't any support for it yet. I thought since it was based on the X1900 series of cards it would work. I haven't built my new system yet, its not all arrived yet, but I would like to know who might know the most about this. The reason it is not supported yet is because the x1950 pro has a different chip than the x1900 GT. I have a x1950 pro and it works without Quartz Extreme and Core Image which is for the Apple system adn some Apple software quite essential. This means that with the help of Natit only the ATINDRV loads. For the QE and CI the ATIRadeonX1000.kext needs to be edit and loaded. if you do this it will load but will give an kernel panic. It is possible that in Leopard this card will work because there are clues that also the x1650 which has a new chip will be supported. I could not load adn test the new kext under Tiger and it is not so easy to get a full Leopard system on a hackintosh. There some who have done it with the help of a new kernel but that is so easy to get hold of. So you want full support on the short term better return the card and go with another card of ATI or Nividia. You can use a ATI x1950 XT or x1950 XTX which has a device id that is already in the Apple ATI driver present. The last is most expensive but you will have the most chance with it. Still even with those there mixed reports depending on the vendor. My self I am also waiting for the coming Macworld in a few days. If a new Mac Pro system is intyroduced there probably will be new Graphic card option that come with it. Like others I hope that the Geforce 8 series will be supported. For my new card I will likely buy something which will give the most change of support. Good luck with it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37510-x1950-pro-anyone-got-it-to-work-with-osx-or-know-who-to-speak-to-about-getting-support-for-it/#findComment-268649 Share on other sites
