Umm...couple of ways.

By the way what do you mean by messed up? garbled and cant start? or start but terrificly slow?

Yes, it is possible, i cant remember, but i think it say's upgrade. select that, and you'l flying. (get mac osx.)

BaYlisS

the system just restarts after it loads mup.sys. I have searched around and can't find a solution, (there are many but non for me).

I have inserted the xp cd and booted into setup, when i go to what partition i select the existing one. Then i have a few options to formatt, but there is also a option to leave the current file system intact. But i'm not sure if i will loose my documents.

P.S. i have osx, this problem is on my fathers PC.

Thanks for the reply.

ehh, I would stick with home.

Professional just includes office. So install office on home, and it'll be very similar.

Plus, with vista (cough) coming out... eventually.., he'll probably want to upgrade to that anyway.

XP Pro has more than Office. I has some apps on it which don't come with Home. And it can connect to a domain.

you would have to do a distructive install, wipe the harddrive, but what you could do is back up the files to a dif partition, delete the home one, install in another one, and then copy the files over and merge the two :censored2:
