Allan
Now I can say that Apple "copied-paste" Microsoft 100% All the macOS "improvements" could be made in a just Tahoe system update - Just like Windows 4 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2850998 Share on other sites

jlrycm
1 hour ago, Max.1974 said: Nice my friend!! Great investment !! Hi there @Max.1974 is the dev beta too much buggy? I heard it runs much smoother than the actual macOS 26.5.1 considering all the Intel code and kernel binaries already removed from it plus the GUI/UX improvements. I would install on a separate partition I would create in my M4 mini if it’s really worth testing it. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851010 Share on other sites

Max.1974
Hello my friend, So far everything is fine here. I haven’t noticed any bugs yet. In fact, my applications are running well. I did lose support for some older apps, but the system still asked me to install Rosetta. For example, MaciASL doesn’t run, but Clover Configurator does, as well as Word, Excel, and other applications. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851014 Share on other sites

Not in the budget for me this year, so fortunately the hacks are doing extremely well and no compelling reason to move to macOS 27. I'm planning to look at used M4 MacBooks next year. SevenTheAppleKitty
Now I really want a silicon mac. That might've been apple's intention, though. 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851017 Share on other sites
Max.1974
To compile Clover on the new system, the deployment target must be 12 or higher. Xcode no longer supports a 10.6 deployment target. https://github.com/maxpicelli/Clover-Compiler-Builder/releases/tag/Clover Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851021 Share on other sites

Max.1974
Hi guys, I uninstalled Golden Gate on my M4 Pro because a few bugs are interfering with two of my essential professional activities. First, Firefox no longer receives passwords directly; authentication now only works via code and through Safari. Second, VS Code with the Chat for Copilot extension is unable to sign in to GitHub. Additionally, compiling older apps such as Clover, which require deployment targets as far back as macOS 10.6, is no longer possible, as it only accepts macOS 12 as the minimum target. For these reasons, I have already erased Golden Gate and reinstalled Tahoe. Good luck to the new users testing it. In my opinion, however, only a few things have changed, and nothing particularly extraordinary. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851042 Share on other sites
Irish_Man
From what I can tell, this release isn’t about improvements—it’s about dropping Intel. I installed it on an external NVMe drive connected to my Mac mini M4, and I can really notice a difference in speed. I'll give them that. As for new features, there’s practically nothing worth mentioning. New Siri? Big deal. I haven’t tested everything yet, but so far, nothing really stands out. 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851045 Share on other sites

Max.1974
Hello everyone, I’d like to share that after I performed a DFU restore with Apple Configurator and reinstalled the factory version of Tahoe, I updated the system using the startosinstall utility (Apple’s original binary included in the installers), which is the same method I use in the macOS Updater Suite that I developed. After doing this, all of my applications started working correctly again, and every bug I had been experiencing was resolved. I believe that by using a similar approach, anyone with a Mac mini or another Apple Silicon (M-series) device can perform a truly clean installation, including firmware updates, and end up with a perfectly functioning system. I’m now using Golden Gate again, but my applications only worked 100% correctly after going through this rather crazy process. Best regards. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362867-apple-unveils-macos-golden-gate/#findComment-2851186 Share on other sites
