Friends, something very strange has happened. I suddenly found myself running out of disk space, but after using OnyX in maintenance mode (default settings), all the space returned after a reboot. Is this a sign of a dying nVME, or is Tahoe playing a trick on me? File system check did not reveal any errors.

No such issue on my side... Did you have any installations pending or something...?

No, nothing like that happened. I just ran out of space. Disk Utility showed it as having 10MB left. The overall size was correct.

Hello everyone,

After updating my Hackintosh to macOS Tahoe, I started noticing graphical glitches that were not present before.

The glitches appear as vertical moving lines/bars, and they are especially visible in:

Safari, mainly in the search/address bar
The Dock, where these vertical bars move or flicker during animations or redraws

The rest of the system seems stable and usable, but these artifacts are quite distracting and clearly related to graphics rendering. I did not have this issue on previous macOS versions using the same hardware and configuration.

Is anyone else experiencing vertical line / bar graphical glitches on macOS Tahoe? Could this be related to GPU acceleration, Metal, or specific GPUs? Are there any known fixes, such as updated Lilu / WhateverGreen, OpenCore settings, or boot-args that help with this?

It happens with or without WhateverGreen (1.7.1d7), using MacPro7,1 - RX6600 XT.

Any confirmation, ideas, or solutions would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I've resolved the issue with Tahoe's disappearing free space. The paging file has grown beyond its limit. At the same time, I updated the Asrock-Z690-PG-Reptide-hackintosh repository

How to reduce paging file, please.

Sorry, I have updated it with the details of my build

I suppose you're using Opencore 😅 Try to add agdpmod=pikera in boot-args.

6600XT is well known by a lot of Hackintoshers. Unfortunately, I don't have this card so I can reproduce your issue.

I tried with and without that boot-arg and same result 🥲

Hi @MakAsrock

How to reduce paging file, please.

OnyX > Maintenance > Cleaning > System > Enable all switches excluding the mailbox in Mail and Volume positions on desktop then Run Tasks. Like in this picture:

I think you need to create custom Zero RPM with softPowerPlayTable on SSDT or config.plist How to do this is described here: Will open in a new tab or window. I'm afraid it's overheating. I have encountered something similar and had to change the card in the end. A little earlier, it would have been enough to change the thermal pads.

Mmmm I don't think overheating is the problem, it didn't occur on Sequoia (and it happens even when I have just powered on the PC)

@jmmc did you try NootRX kext to see if you get the same issue? When trying this kext remove the agdpmod=pikera boot arg.

Why would NootRX be required for a graphics card that the system already recognizes? Besides, isn't this kext a derivative of WEG.kext? I use an RX6600 and have no problems. I think the problem must be something else.

It’s not required, it’s an alternative and in my case I get good performance under NootRX, at times better than using WEG or not using any kext at all. It’s a personal choice and each build is different.

This card is recognized natively in most cases and does not require anything other than DeviceProperties.

Anything recommended to add to DeviceProperties to these cards?

@jmmc did you try NootRX kext to see if you get the same issue? When trying this kext remove the agdpmod=pikera boot arg.

Which version should I use that works with Tahoe?

This card is recognized natively in most cases and does not require anything other than DeviceProperties.

Recognition is one thing, performance is another. Like I said earlier, NootRX works for me well and at times I get better performance  and less buggy UI experience in Tahoe when booting with this kext when compared to not loading it or using WEG. Personal choice.

I didn't use Weg with this card, but my performance was the same with or without NootRX. it's a pity the card's BGA overheat failure — reballing required, but I didn’t want to get involved with it. I bought it already used. But this happened under Windows, not under MacOS. But the symptoms were the same.
