Hello Everyone.

Last week I tested Tahoe installation in a spare SSD and decided to get it running in my actual setup, upgrading the Sequoia installation I had.

The only difference I noticed was, after the final install reset I was asked for my password just after boot, not when the system was already loaded.

And of course my password didn't work! :)

Got the information about the File Vault, installed apfs_aligned.efi driver and unchecked the needed option in OC configurator.
Could login in Tahoe with no issues except it is not possible to disable the File Vault.

No matter how much I try to disable it, enter the password and select to turn it off, it always is on.

Is there a way to turn it off?

I have reached some information it can be disabled in Recovery Boot, but no so sure if it only for real macs.

Checking the encryption, I get this:

FileVault is On.
Encryption in progress: Percent completed = 12

It is in 12 ever since.

The other information I got it that File Vault is enabled always if you are connected to iCloud.
Will it be even after forcing turning it off?

Thank you!

Wait for Percent completed = 100 only then you can disable FileVault.

Make new clean installation of Tahoe. It will occupy 15 Gb and encryption will be performed during minutes. Then disable FileVault, wait for 100% decryption and only then do a migration from your previous system.

Apple does these surprises to us, and to real Mac users too. My advice is, if you install Tahoe or upgrade/update to Tahoe, at last it will ask you to make and configure your user. Even if you already had one. Pay extreme attention to every step. Read everything before clicking on "continue" button. It is a step, where it asks you if you want Filevault to encrypt your drive. It is by default checked on. Uncheck it. You will be adviced how useful is to have your volume encrypted, blah blah... move on and this is all. 5 minutes of maximum attention and you get over the pain in the ass. Good luck!

Absolutely right. It's strange that other users are having problems that require exotic solutions.

Well, I was fooled too. I paid attention to the specific Hackintosh things and until now I did not experience this. So my first installation was encrypted. Being a clean install, I preferred to format the SSD and to install again, paying attention when it arrived to the user configuration.

When creating your account, uncheck the box.

" Allow your computer's account password to be reset with your Apple Account. You must sign in to your Apple Account in the next step to use this feature. " )

If you have enabled it, in the next step you will be asked to enter the account

It will never get to 100%.
Until yesterday evening it was still at 12%....

I think it has stopped and won't continue.

I asked about disableing it as the test installation I did it is completely different.

I won't stop in the very beggining of the load procedure to ask for the user password.
It only asks when the system has already loaded.

Probably it will be better to create a backup with time machine and do a clean install of tahoe.

The approach is absolutely correct, but unfortunately, Time Machine is one of the most unsuccessful built-in tools in macOS. Third-party solutions are needed.

Hello Everyone.

I was able to turn off the filevault.

When I upgraded to 26.1 I notice the percentage of the encryption moved.

Before that, it was stalled at 12%

So I let it finished then I disabled the filevault by the terminal command.

It decrypted the hdd and now it is uncrypted.

Thanks for the help.

Glad when I installed Tahoe, I did it on a new SSD. When I accidentally let it to encrypt, I just erased the disk and installed it again. That procedure to uncrypt from the recovery partition is so complicated for me, obviously when I have nothing where to see the commands and I didn't know it before to write them on a paper.
