I see they're still making updates.

Has anyone else seen this Norton Antivirus warning about VirtualSMC.kext?

Threat name: MacOS:AMOS-BI [Trj]

Severity: 2

Threat type: Trojan

File name: VirtualSMC-1.3.5-RELEASE.zip

File path: /Users/deeveedee/Downloads/VirtualSMC-1.3.5-RELEASE.zip

Process: /System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/App/System/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/XPCServices/com.apple.Safari.SandboxBroker.xpc/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.Safari.SandboxBroker

Detected by: Download Intelligence

Status: Threat blocked

EDIT: I'm not sure whether this is actually a threat detected in VirtualSMC.kext or something with GoogleAds.  See more here.

EDIT2: I downloaded a few other Acidanthera kexts and don't see the Norton detected Trojan.  It appears that, so far, this Trojan threat is specific to VirtualSMC.  I haven't seen this before, but hopeful that this is a false alarm due to the nature of VirtualSMC.

EDIT3: I do not see this Trojan when I download VirtualSMC 1.3.4, so this is specific to 1.3.5.

EDIT4: It appears to me that the virus is in the .zip file downloaded from Acidanthera.  After unzipping the kext, Norton does not detect the Trojan virus in the unzipped (raw) kext.

@deeveedee

Yes, I noticed this.
I don't know why. I was hesitating to add VirtualSMC to the list. Minimal changes, as I read in your other post, so no need to update for the vast majority of us.

No guys. VirtualSMC 1.3.5 is obligatory update for Sequoia 15.4+
