Hello again,

I finally ran some benchmarks on the build and noticed the following:

The Mac Pro 7.1 SMBIOS performs worse compared to the iMac Pro 1.1 SMBIOS.

Here are the results from Geekbench 6:

  • MacPro7.1 SMBIOS: 8107 MultiCore
  • iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS: 9092 MultiCore
  • Windows: 9075 MultiCore

The Xeon Gold 6138 is not really a "beast"; I purchased this CPU more as a temporary solution to test the motherboard and macOS. I plan to upgrade it in the near future, but for 40€, it’s a nice CPU with 20 cores. :)

Hi,

I have some issues when trying to install macOS Big Sur on the SuperMicro X11SPL-F. When trying to boot from the USB, the system always gets stuck at the infamous [EB|LOG:EXITBS:START]. I tried every suggestion from the Dortania OpenCore Guide but I am unable to boot the installer. CFGLock ist disabled via UEFIPatch, ControlMsr2 reports

This firmware has UNLOCKED MSR 0xE2 register!

This system has been a nightmare to work with, I have some experience with hackintoshed from the past. My other rig (ASRock Z490M Pro4 + i9 10900) works perfectly fine but this motherboard and CPU combination is giving me a headache.

I will attach my current EFI config + OpenCore log. Happy if somebody could try to help me out.

My problem is the same!
I've been trying to climb the Sonoma installation for days.

How were you able to flash the patched BIOS? I tried via IPMI and it fails

Hi guys,

I didn’t want to start a new thread, but I tried updating OpenCore to version 1.0.6 because I wanted to test macOS Tahoe on this build. Unfortunately, with the latest OpenCore version the system gets stuck at EB|LOG:EXITBS:START again.

I recreated the config.plist from scratch and configured the same quirks, as well as updated all kexts, to match my previously working EFI. However, it still fails to get past EB|LOG:EXITBS:START. The older EFI with macOS Sequoia is working perfectly fine.

I’ve only attached the config.plist from the working EFI, as the full ZIP of the old setup exceeds the file size limit here.

Current log is also attached and the new EFI for OpenCore 1.0.6

@etorix @Balamut Out of curiosity, have any of you already tried OpenCore 1.0.6 on your machines (assuming you still have the hardware ;) )?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The iMacPro 1.1 is not compatible with the Tahoe SMBios. Either a booter/patch is required, or the compatible SMBios is MacPro 7.1.

The USBMap.kext is not prepared to be compatible with the Tahoe.

Do not use WEG 1.7.0 in the Rx580 installation. Either deactivate it or use WEG 1.7.1d7.

AirportItlwm.kext will not work. BT kexts cause problems during installation.

The CPUFriendDataProvider.kext location is incorrect. (CPUFriend.kext)

Some cards require SetupVirtualMap/true

Hi @strangeron,

Thanks for the reply. But I am not even trying to boot Tahoe for now. I simply updated my OpenCore version and kexts and tried to boot into my existing install of macOS Sequoia. The EFI with the working.plist is working completely fine, only the OC 1.0.6 variant of the EFI is not working. The new EFI also doesnt have AirportItlwm in it.

Btw, I am not using a RX580 anymore, I use a RX 5700.

I’m currently running OpenCore 1.0.6, so it’s time for macOS Tahoe.:)
I also just got my hands on the McPrue Apollo X — yes, I know I initially said it was too expensive for me, but since this is probably my last Hackintosh, I wanted to build something special. ;)
