bwhsh8r
i highly doubt it, because the mobos wont have the apple chips that authenticate it as a real mac, that and the efi, i dont think regular intel boards are efi enabled and have apple's efi Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35865-assembling-a-mac/#findComment-255201 Share on other sites

Dellius
Is this authentication so important? And what is EFI ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35865-assembling-a-mac/#findComment-255212 Share on other sites
INFNITE
EFI is the firmware of the Mac that drives the boot up process. It replaces BIOS in conventional PC's. Without it, you will have to get a hacked version of Mac OS X in order to have it run on your computer. bwhsh8r
Is this authentication so important? And what is EFI ? and the authentications important because without it you cant install unless there is a hacked version (osx86) but with the chip you can run legitimate apple installs. asap18
well any powerpc mac doesnt use tpm/efi. They use Open Firmware which should be built into the powerpc motherboard. However if you are assembling an intel one, you would need to get a macbook/mac pro motherboard to get the tpm/efi measures. The new core 2 duos i think have the tpm built into the chip while the older core duos had it on the motherboard.
