  1. Tell me, please, is this configuration going to be able to run a vanilla installation and in the same time provide me with a decent gaming performance.
  2. Here is what I managed to come up with so far. Mobo - Intel DX58SO - because of SLI. CPU - Core i7 920 GPU - nVidia 9800 GTX+ HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Internal hard drive - 300 MBps - 7200 rpm RAM - DDR3 4GB - Kingston Value Ram 4GB 1333MHz Kit DDR3 Non-ECC (KVR1333D3N9K2/4G) LAN - Realtek PSU - CoolerMaster eXtreme 500 Watt Display - either of the following. I chose them because I would like to take advantage of nVidia 3D Vision. Samsung® SyncMaster 2233RZ 120 Hz LCD display ViewSonic® FuHzion™ VX2265wm 120 Hz LCD display Tell me, please, what do you think so far.
  3. Thank you for your reply, Synaesthesia. I prefer to use an nVidia card, though. Could you suggest anything that would be both compatible with OS X and could provide me with high performance. Regarding the other components, I know some brands have problems with OS X, so could you be more specific, please.
  4. Thank you for your reply, verdant. I did what you said and here is the result I got back. Checking Catalog File Keys out of order (4,3) Rebuilding Catalog B-tree The volume Apple Mac OSX could not be repaired Nothing found to load Uncaught DS Exception: <(null)>(eServerSendError) My OS still failed to boot after I restarted it.
  5. Help me build a gaming Hackintosh, please. I have put aside about 1000 Euro for the project and I intend to use second hand parts in order to get the most for my money. Give me your advice, please
  6. Help me save my data from my dead Mac OS X 10.4.8 installation, please. Suddenly, three weeks ago, my Mac OS X installation died and I lack the skills to bring it back to life. I can read from and write to its volume, however when I try to boot it, it fails to boot. I have described exactly what happens in this topic. I have given up on reviving my installation and I would like to ask you to help me save my Bookmarks from Safari and Firefox. I would also like to ask you to help me save my Mail settings and messages. Help me save my data, please.
  7. Thank you for your reply, rhyguy. I did what you said with little success. I got a blue screen with the cursor on it and then, the console appeared again.
  8. Help me, please. I have important files on that partition. Tell me please, how to export my Safari bookmarks and settings at the least. I can access the partition from my Windows XP installation and I can read and write files on it.
  9. My Hackintosh Fails to boot. When I attempt to boot under OS X, I get stuck at the Starting Mac OS X screen for a while and then the console shows up instead of the GUI. I get prompted for a user name and password and no matter what I enter, I get a password incorrect error. Should I choose to just wait without doing anything, here is what messages I receive. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: kextd_watch_volumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions. kextd[27]: giving up on diskarb; auto-rebuild disabled. Mac OS X Improperly Reading Disk Space

Thank you for your reply, aaronz8. Here is the exact message Transmission shows me. Finder now shows me I have only 1.01 GB available space. However, the file is now at 74.53% complete and things are running smooth so far. I am still worried why Transmission is telling me it needs more disk space. Tell me, please, why this is happening and how I can fix it.

Mac OS X Improperly Reading Disk Space

Why does Transmission warn me I am running out of space then ? Finder shows me I have 1.81 GB available right now.
  12. Mac OS X is reading my disk space improperly. I should have about 11 GB free space and instead Mac OS shows me I have only 1.92 GB available. I started a download today with Transmission. Size - 10.5 GB. When I use Get Info on the file's folder, Mac OS shows me the folder is as big as 10.5 GB. Transmission on the other hand shows me it has downloaded only 500 MB out of the total 10.5 GB and warns me I am running out of space. Help me fix this, please.
  13. Thank you for your reply, DreamStatic. Looks like DVDPedia works on newer versions of OS X. I am on 10.4.8 right now.
