deeveedee
@miliuco Great job as always! Is Acidanthera going to assume development responsibility for VoodooI2C?
miliuco
@deeveedee I include VoodooI2C as it's in the Dortania builds page, mainly maintained by kaprinssu: https://dortania.github.io/builds/?product=VoodooI2C&viewall=true I do the same with VoodooPS2, maintained by @1Revenger1 and others. deeveedee
@miliuco I hadn't noticed that VoodooI2C was included in the builds page. Maybe that's an indication that it will eventually be included in the Acidanthera github here (as is VoodooPS2).
1Revenger1
No, it is not maintained by Acidanthera. it’s just a commonly used plugin that got added. VoodooRMI, VoodooSMBus, ECEnabler, and a few others are also on the page and are not maintained by Acidanthera. 3
miliuco
@1Revenger1 Thanks for the info, I had the idea that all the items in Dortania builds page were also maintained by Acidanthera. Anyway, I think that adding VoodooI2C to the updated kexts is ok.

deeveedee
I noticed that Lilu 1.6.4 includes a commit that addresses AMD iGPU. I had no idea that anyone was able to hack a PC with AMD iGPU. I have seen multiple posts in InsanelyMac advising would-be hackers that they can't hack their AMD laptop if it only has an AMD iGPU. Maybe this is changing? See this issue. The project trying to achieve hack compatibility with AMD iGPU is WhateverRed. I'm not linking here, but you can search for it. It is a work in progress and appears to offer limited AMD iGPU compatibility up to Big Sur. Reminds me once again to "never say never."
miliuco
Message by @PMheart, please read it. @deeveedee I'm not sure, maybe is it only to have support for EnableGOP at boot? In the issue that you posted I can understand them talking about AMD iGPUs on macOS, not just pre-OpenCore graphics.

Maybe this is changing? See this issue. You can hack an AMD CPU with an iGPU… as long as you have a supported dGPU. The work to get Ryzen 7000 working serendipitously fixed timing issues which plagued earlier AMD APUs. As far as I understand, you still can't quite hack an AMD laptop which relies on the iGPU. WhateverRed is trying to bring support but doesn't seems to be production-ready yet, and it targets only Big Sur because earlier and later versions of macOS lack (different) parts of Metal APIs and AMD drivers which WhateverRed relies upon. Rocks and hard places… 1
