Hi. I know Mac OS X 10.6 is not supported now but is it possible to install Mac OS X 10.6 on a Intel Atom N455 CPU? I just want to see how it performs compare to older OS like Windows XP. I hope someone here can help me do it. Here's the specs.

CPU: Intel Atom®️ N455
RAM: 1GB DDR3 @ 667MHz
Model: Lenovo IdeaPad S100

Hi and welcome to InsanelyMac.com

Atom processors are not supported by Mac OS X or macOS you need to use custom kernels to be able to install and run Mac OS and it's gonna be a pain in the neck to make it work.

The 1GB RAM is another issue which is gonna have a massive impact on the performance.

Another issue is gonna be the graphics which if it's not supported by Mac OS X or macOS it's gonna render the system useless.

What do you mean custom kernels? And does that mean there's no way for me to install macOS on my netbook?

Custom kernels are modified kernels which add support for unsupported processors and you can use google to find them.

But when you use a custom kernel if you update Mac OS X they will be over written and the system won't boot afterwards.

So in short, No. It's better not to waste your time on your netbook trying to install Mac OS X because if you do manage to install Mac OS X as @Hervé mentioned above you'll have no graphic acceleration and system will no work properly.

Think of it as running a system without installing the graphics driver and without the drivers the performance will not be what it should be.
