Need some help.

When I updated my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) to Monterey 12.2.1, I started having connection issues to an Airport Express (used for AirPlay).  This device is set to join my Wifi network and worked fine in the past, but not since the update.

My wife's identical MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) updated to Monterey 12.2.1 does not have this connection issue.  She can ping the IP address.  My MBP cannot.  She can Airplay with this device, I cannot.

A clean install of Monterey 12.2.1 did not resolve this connection issue.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what  else to check?

Is there somewhere I can download an earlier version of Monterey, to try a different clean install?

Hello and welcome to InsanelyMac 😃

Did you tried clear the NVRam?

Restart with CMD-OPT-P-R     Yes

Also tried resetting SMC

Will try clean install of Big Sur and then re-upgrade to Monterey 12.2.1  if no other options

Some thoughts that have occurred to me when I had a similar issue:

Possibly your wifi bluetooth card is different from hers?

Firmware issue?

Have you tried deleting the Wifi and the subsequent plists? if you know where to look

Firewall issue?

FileVault security?

Have you created a new user --additional

Wifi is on an active? but no ping? Could be security firewall thing.

Some app you are using that is blocking?

I had made a change once in Share where the computer name and the workgroup name in Network were not the same

and the Router had a mixup.

The name the Router has originally is what is allowed or looks at to get connection. if you change it the Router does a loop and does not allow, so may have to either delete the Base in the Router or reset it after you back it up.

So before you take off and reinstall have a look at the network aspect.

You can run traceroute, netstat, with the appropriate switches to get the sucker up.

ifconfig to bring the interface up or down or create.

ifconfig -r to check the status of the interfaces.

I'm sure you looked close at your wife's mac and made comparisons.

It might be a simple app that is blocking somewhere, like rapportd or some daemon that is not starting? perhaps blocking?

This may have been related to making sure that  IPv6 is set to Link Local Only.  This and/or downgrading the firmware version on the Airport Express seems to have resolved my issue.
