Andrio
Hey! I have HP Elitebook 8570p with Intel Core i5-3340M cpu (IvyBridge). Recently I installed macOS Catalina 10.15.7 using the guide from Dortania wee page. For the last 3-4 years I was dual booting macOS Sierra and Windows 10 form same SSD drive using Clover and I had no issues what so ever... One week ago I decided to give a try to OpenCore and I did everything as advised on the Dortania web page. I can perfectly boot both Windows 10 & Catalina OS and everything works amazing except two things: 1) If I restart the computer from macOS Catalina there is no boot device found in BIOS (my SSD disappears from the boot options), but If I Shut Down the machine it appears and I'm able to boot normally. Just a note: Yesterday I changed my SSD hard drive with new Samsung 870 EVO 1TB and I cloned everything from my old SSD exactly as it was. I didn't have that issue with the old SSD Drive! 2) In Windows 10 I have a problem if I boot it using OpenCore the sleep function doesn't work correctly, the computer goes to sleep normally, but when it wake up the WiFi doesn't reconnect even if I force it to do that (I found a solution on that problem, I just don't allow my WiFi adapter to sleep), but the main problem is that the computer refuse to restart after it's waken up and I have to push the power button for 5 seconds to do so... Curiously if I boot Windows 10 directly from the bootmgfw.efi file in BIOS I don't have the problems explained above, I have the issues only if I boot Windows 10 using the OpenCore... I checked my config.plist using the Config checker in OpenCore Configurator and everything shows green except few items that shows "?" , but they are more as a recommended functions rather than mandatory... I live my config.plist if needed... If anyone has an idea where might be the core for those problems I'll be very thankful! Thank you! Best regards! config.plist Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350114-opencore-2-problems/ Share on other sites
Andrio
I tried your advise, but the situation is the same... I've made a factory reset the BIOS... Actually, because I've got my old SSD in a USB box, if it's connected I'm able to boot from there, but the situation is the same, if I restart the system rather than Shut it down,my computer starts booting the USB drive (the old SSD), because it didn't find the internal drive. Andrio
I wonder if there is a way to convert from OpenCore to Clover, but I found a solution only for the other way around... I tried to boot Catalina with the Clover EFI folder that I have as a backup(I had Mojave OS installed before and have EFI backup with Clover for APFS file system), but it stuck on the Apple logo.. I guess there are some significant differences between Mojave and Catalina... Andrio
OK. I found something about the first problem... It's not related to the bootloader, because I restored the backup of macOS Sierra with the Clover boot loader and the problem still exists. I guest it will be something related to the Samsung SSD... I'll try some different options in the performance section. Does anyone have some idea what could be the reason? The previous SSD is some old TOSHIBA and it was working good enough, but I just decided to upgrade to more bigger and newer SSD....
