Klownicle
I have a dual core, amd turion 64bit x2 (1.6ghz). It only shows as 1 cpu in system profiler. However on boot up it detects 2, however it only says "Started CPU01" or somthing like that. I never see another one stating its starting another CPU. The About Mac, shows the correct Process details, and correct ram. I just was curious as to if im not getting the full possible preformance by my mac becauase of the one cpu being umm used? westep23
Well we need to know what version your using. Some detect dualcore as htt. Also what does geekbench and Activity Monitor.app say. If activity monitor shows 2 cpu's your good to go. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34882-number-of-cpus-1/#findComment-247604 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Verify that two cpus are displayed in Activity Monitor in Utilities folder. Also, go to Terminal in Utilities folder and type: sysctl hw.ncpu hw.logicalcpu machdep.cpu.cores_per_package This will show you the number of cpus the OS and the kernel think it has available.
