snobrd4life
I'm trying to find out if any of those cheap $10 usb sound cards work with both line in and line out... id rather not shell out the $ for the imic so i was wondering if anybody can confirm if one of those green or blue little adapters work and how well..... thanks (i know there are like 20 topics for usb audio, but everybody pretty much neglects to say if the tiny adapters work for both audio in and out.) SkyZ
I'm pretty sure Line Out and Mic works on those cheap USB sound cards (I tried 3 different brands already), but uncertain does it really need 10.4.8 (kernel 8.8.1)..... macgirl
Well I have a USB Phone, it is like an USB SoundCard somehow, it works well. I also have a non-cheap USB Audio Card (M-Audio Sonica Theatre) that works well too, even it had Digital Output (no 5.1 channels because lack of x86 kexts) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34855-cheap-usb-sound-cards-that-work/#findComment-250865 Share on other sites

handsome_ramin
ok so, now that i discovered that my Soundblaster Live 5.1 doesnt work, I am trying to by a soundcard that will work osx86. but, I want it to be cheap. I am thinking of 20$ and under. Give me some suggestions. So, I want a very cheap usb soundcard that will work with osx86. Also, if I do get the soundcard, will I have to reinstall OSX86 to make it work? or will it automatically find it. Also I want this new soundcard to work with windows and ubuntu. It isnt really a hard thing because I know ubuntu and windows will pick drivers real fast, But mac osx wont. Therefore, I want it to work and be under 20$. oh, and by the way, here are my statistics. I have a Dell. Mac OS X 10.4.6 1.8 G/hz Intel SSE2 768 MB of RAM 128 MB ATI RADEON 8500 Series ASUS P4T ACPI BIOS Revision 1005 and of course... the SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Model: SB 0100 (that didnt work!!!) Please help me. and reply fast because I know christmas is coming soon and I might just be able to get someone to buy it for me! Pako Feber
Go for a Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202. It's very cheap, sounds ok and OSX86 supports it natively, without drivers. SkyZ
well, ok, i understand mac girl, but this forum post doesnt really answer some of my questions. please help me someone. SoundBlaster PCI card won't work whatever version/kernel you're using because lack of driver...... Some said SoundBlaster external USB sound card does work, though. NHJ
you had better stay away from those cheap usb soundcard 5.1, they produce a horrible sound, looks like a transistor is used to amplify the volume. Turtle Beach 5.1, they're probably $20 at the most.. Forgot to mention that the audio isn't the greatest, but at least its something...
