cooller
I am new to osx86 project. I am planning to buy a new laptop. I will go for a dell(latitude or precision series). If there is any problem with dell latitude, I will get a toshiba satellite laptop. I want to install mac os x as my primary operating system. Because of the purchase of the new hardware, I want to buy something that will not have any problems. I think this is a good chance to do it. I do not want to install mac os x in existing hardware I already have. I will buy a new laptop, so I want to make a wise choice and getting something that will permit me to install mac os x without any incompatibilities or problems. Can you tell me which dell (latitude or precision) laptop in order to install mac os x without any problems? Any experience about it?

vEmpire
I recognize the following two things: 1. Mac hardware will run mac os better than anything else. 2. There are a bunch of laptop threads on the forum, and a HCL on the wiki That being said... I would like to buy a new 17" screen laptop, and can not afford the 3K that the new MBP is going for. However, I can afford a 1200-1600 laptop. All of the "big box" retailers, plus the usual online suspects (dell) have a few core 2 duo machines in that price range. I think the OP (and certainly myself) are hopeful that the experienced InsanelyMac Forum Faithful would be able to make some recommendations as to what might be a good model. From what I have been able to ascertain from a recent thread in the hardware forum is that the intel wifi cards are no good and the X200 graphics cards, no good. All the other large laptop threads are old enough that the current crop of easy to come by core 2 duo machines are not being discussed. I get that putting OSX on non apple hardware is an adventure no matter what, but I would still like a little insight into what might make the ride a little less bumpy if anyone has it. My point simply is that there are those of us who have searched the forums, the wiki, and Google a bunch, AND know that mac's are the best hardware for a mac OS, but STILL want to have this conversation about new laptops. My thanks to anyone who might have some suggestions or pointers.
