apple fanboy
I am considering a new machine, one with a Celeron D 2.53ghz. Newegg reports that this chip is 64bit (so it must be brand new.) How are the speeds with Celerons vs. P4's? The chip I'm running right now is a P4 2.66 (socket 775, 1meg L2, 533 fsb, no HT) and this new one will be 2.53 (socket 775, 256 L2, 533fsb, no HT.) What do you guys think? Should I or Shouldn't I.... For those who want a reason for the switch....My HTPC downstairs is dying. I need a new mobo and processor for it. I was trying to save a few bucks by switching out the mobo and processor I have in this machine because it has a PCI express slot in it already, and the new mobo I'm looking at does not. I could always use this processor (the celeron) in the machine downstairs but I don't know if it will keep up with HDTV and TheaterTek. Hagar
AMD? generally, perhaps, but for osx86? anyhow what do those comments have to do with the original question? This machine is running a celeron D 2.66, but I have little to campare it to.. a friend has a 3.2 p4 prescott lying around that he wants to try out in this box.. as & when that happens I'll get back to you.. miranda363
Celeron D works for me and Intel mobo. But it should be about personal choice the Celeron is a good low cost solution. What I would do is read up a bit more and base your choices on what you find.
